ERP has become inevitable in the internet era in any sphere of activity, namely educational Institution R& D organization or business Investment in enterprise system such as ERP constitute one of the largest chunks of a Firm's IT budget. Further, these system form the backbone of firm's business processes and hold the key information assets of firms. In today's IT – enabled business environment, almost all employees of a firm will have to deal with one or the other enterprise information system in their day-to-day work. The world class competition, modern business environment and the availability of the Internet are the premises which stress the need for ERP. Globalization and Web commerce riding on the development of the Internet have changed traditional business behavior and practices. Leveraging the Internet by the business has become a need to quickly establish a virtual presence. They must use collaborative technology in order to respond to customer's requirements better and faster. A good understanding of the role of ERP in the context of IT-enable business processes is of paramount importance.

Venky Shankararaman is an Associated Dean (Education) at the school of Information Systems, Singapore management University of Strathclyde, UK. His current areas of specialization include enterprises architecture, enterprise system & integration, service oriented architecture and business process management. He has over 20 years experience in the ITindustry in various capacities as a researcher, academy faculty member of various UK Universities, and industry consultant. Venky has designed and delivered professional courses for government and industry in areas such as enterprise architecture, technical architecture, enterprises system & Integration and business process management.

The programme will be held at Hotel South Park, Trivandrum. Phone No. 2333333 on November 9, 2012. Participants will have to make their own arrangements for travel and stay. The fee is to be paid by Demand Draft in favor of “Inndia Institution of Industrial Engineering” payable a State Bank of Travancore, Kawdiar Branch, Trivandrum.
