    PRINTER

    PERFORMANCE

    ANDSPECIFICATIONDATA

The CDI 930 TELETERMTM provides inter-active high-speed data communication todigital computers at low cost. Utilizing athermal printing technique, the 930 TELETERMoperates virtually silently with extremely highreliability. It is designed to replace older, slower, more noisy terminals and controlconsoles which use Teletype, Selectric, orother failure-prone impact printer mechanisms.

Interfacing the CDI 930 TELETERM to any

computer or digital data system is easybecause both serial and parallel signals areconveniently available on each TELETERMrear connector panel. For example, the com-mon TTY standard 20 milliamp current loopconnector may be used at 10, 15, or 30 char-acters per second providing high speed bitserial data communication on a plug-to-plugcompatibility basis with the model 33 Tele-type. Or the RS-232C connector may be usedto interchange data with nearly any computeror peripheral device, since virtually all suchequipment is now provided with this popularEIA standard feature.

The CDI 930 TELETERM also can be easilydesigned into a specialized data collection orprocess control system, since DTL/TTL logiclevel electronic signals are readily available

in either serial or parallel form from con-nectors mounted on each TELETERM rearpanel. The interface flexibility built into each930 TELETERM, allows rapid definition of newsystems without constraints, and without theneed to design or buy interconnecting bufferelectronics.

Parity checking and an electronic keyboardinterlock help eliminate operator error, andfull duplex data communication can also beused for further error control. When used withthe CDI 3600 Tape Cassette Data Buffer, orthe CDI 3900 Paper Tape Reader/Punch, theCDI 930 TELETERM can be used for programinput, program assembly, or computer datalistings all at fast 30 character per secondspeeds and with full 80 column page widthprinting.

    FAST, RELIABLE

    PERFORMANCE

The CDI 930 TELETERM utilizes an advancedsolid-state, non-impact printer to gain a speedadvantage of 3 to 1 over conventional Teletypeequipment. This simple basic mechanism hasno moving parts except the paper advancedrive and print head positioning motor. Allthat is heard in operation is the light touch ofthe print head and the rustling of the paper. The use of integrated circuit logic elementsand virtual elimination of mechanical partsadd up to high reliability and easy servicing.

Extensive testing and field experience hasconfirmed that no preventative maintenance isrequired for the 930 TELETERM. Many hun-dreds of a similar terminal, such as theportable CDI 1030 TELETERM, have demon-strated a need for adjustment or service onlyonce a year or so. The 930 TELETERM isdesigned to provide even greater reliability. No operator retraining or reprogramming isgenerally necessary since the 930 TELETERMkeyboard is identical with that of the simple,easy-to-use Teletype Model 33 terminal familiar to virtually all computer personnel, and very similar to the common office type-writer keyboard.

The external case of the CDI 930 TELETERMfully encloses the terminal, including its powersupply, into an integrated and compact unit, protected by easy-to-clean, strong, and flame-retardant Kydex thermoplastic covers. A cool-ing fan is standard, so that installation merelyrequires that the power cord and data con-nector be plugged in. Modem styling andsmall size allow the 930 TELETERM to com-plement the decor of efficient modern officeand work areas.

THE MODEL 930 IS PORTABLE. YOU CAN

    TAKE IT ANYWHERE AND INTERFACE

    TO ANYTHING.
