In a safe and secure campus, where students can enjoy

a vast range of academic, sporting and musical activities

Harrow International School provides a British

education from Early Years to pre–university level.

As either Boarding or Day, students enjoy a world-class

education within modern, purpose built accommodation.

Harrow has an excellent record of students

progressing to many of the world’s leading universities,

including Oxford, Cambridge and Yale.

From the youngest to the oldest, Harrow students are

challenged to excel in the classroom and beyond – strong

foundations that lead to successful futures.

early years

Our Early Years Centre is second to none. We cater for

children from 3 months to 5 years old in a fantastic

purpose built, safe and friendly environment.

Our curriculum in the Early Years is not taught through

specific subjects. Instead it is split into six broad

areas of learning:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Communication, Language and Literacy

Mathematical Development

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Physical Development

Creative Development

Our new Infant School has been designed and

built around the needs of children aged 5 to 7 years.

Our underlying aim is to provide a safe, secure

and stimulating learning environment that encourages

pupils to become confident in their own abilities.

The principal focus of the curriculum is to develop

Literacy and Numeracy skills. The majority of

teaching time is spent with the class teacher and

other curriculum areas covered in class are: Science,

ICT, History, Geography, Art, DT and PHSE.

The pupils are also in the fortunate position to be

taught by specialist teachers in the areas of: Music,

PE, Thai Language, Swimming and Thai Studies.

The differing natures in pupils’ personalities and

academic abilities are recognised and catered for by

varying teaching and learning strategies according

to the needs of the class, group and individuals.

Young children are active learners so ample opportunity

is provided for first hand experiences of the curriculum to

build a sound basis for future learning. To support this, a

variety of quality resources are used to complement the

teaching of the curriculum.

The ultimate focus in the Infant School is on making the

curriculum relevant, interesting and fun. Teaching and

support staff aim to guide, encourage and challenge the

pupils; all within a caring and supportive environment that

promotes independent lifelong learning.

juniors

H A R R O W I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L

Junior School pupils are aged between 7 and 10 years.

We aim to provide an exciting, broad and balanced

curriculum which builds on, and develops, skills

introduced to them during their time in the Infant School.

Pupils are taught using the National Curriculum of England

and Wales as a foundation. The teaching focuses

on the knowledge, attitudes, skills and concepts relevant

to each subject. Teachers use this curriculum to teach a

range of subjects: Literacy, Mathematics, Science, History,

Geography, Art, DT and PHSE. The Junior School class

teachers teach these subjects. However, as a means of

developing a pupil’s educational experience, specialist

teachers teach ICT, Music, PE,MFL and Thai Studies.

Our curriculum is delivered in a variety of different ways.

We recognise the importance of a range of learning

styles when delivering the curriculum and

teaching is adapted accordingly. Pupils enjoy a range of

practical activities in many subjects and have

opportunities to work individually or as groups.

Individual teachers provide a safe and secure learning

environment for the pupils, where strengths and

successes are celebrated and their personal needs are

recognised. Pupils are encouraged to develop their

independence throughout their time in the Junior School

and teachers ensure that the learning experience is fun.

A bridge between Primary and Secondary. The best of

both worlds. Challenge, support and care. A chance for

our young leaders to shine. The Prep School – Strong

Foundations, Successful Futures.

Centred on the National Curriculum of England and Wales,

Prep students are supported by our highly trained

teachers in an inspirational environment. Receiving

students in Year 6, our two-year Prep programme equips

students for the rigours of specialised Secondary lessons,

whilst drawing on the very best practices of the Primary

curriculum. The curriculum is underpinned by a pastoral

system that retains the homeroom environment students

are familiar with whilst, as they mature, exposing them to

Secondary routines and expectations.

Our House names resonate with people who made a

difference. What makes Harrow unique is our development

of leadership skills in all our students. The Prep School

is no exception. House competitions, leading Assemblies,

environmental projects, corridor duties and much more

give Prep students the opportunity to take on

responsibility - whether students are in Churchill or Nehru,

Byron or Sonakul, Suriyothai or Keller, whether they are

House Captains in Year 7 or Deputy House Captains in

Year 6 Prep students learn to lead. For students whose

first language is not English the Intensive English

Curriculum (IEC) gives students access to specialised

English support in small classes. Once their English

matches their potential, they enter the full curriculum with

all the extra opportunities on offer.

secondary

H A R R O W I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L

The thriving Secondary School sees students in Years 8-13

(ages 12-18) undertake a broad based British

curriculum, a vibrant co-curricular programme and

many exciting events (such as House competitions,

expeditions, school shows, academic visits, school discos

and much more).

Equipped with outstanding academic qualifications

and the life skills needed to face the challenges of the

modern world, Harrow students leave ready to succeed in

and contribute to the diverse societies in which they will

live and work.

The secondary curriculum closely follows the National

Curriculum of England & Wales. In Years 7-9 (ages 11-14)

students study a broad range of subjects across the

Science, Maths, English, Art and Humanities faculties. The

focus at this stage is to develop the skills and knowledge

required for study at IGCSE.

Between the ages of 14-16 students are taught IGCSE. All

students study the core subjects of English, Mathematics

and Science and then take further subjects from the

choice of Thai, Mandarin, French, Japanese, Art, History,

Business Studies, English Literature, Music, Geography,

Information and Communication Technology and PE.

At the end of Year 11 students sit for externaI IGCSE

examinations.

sixth form

H A R R O W I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L

We have a large Sixth Form which, although

fully integrated into the school, has a

strong identity of its own. Our aim is that the

Sixth Form should be a real community

to which our students are proud to belong and

in which they can develop a measure of

independence and maturity.

Through a variety of activities and

responsibilities such as prefectorial duties and

debating topical issues, we aim for our

Sixth Form students to be leading the whole

school through their attitude, outlook and

ambitions as young adults and potential leaders

of the future.

H A R R O W I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L

Sixth Form students study towards the

gold standard UK qualification - the A-level.

A-levels are highly regarded internationally and

a good set of results can secure a student

entry into some of the most prestigious

universities in the world.

Examination results achieved by our students

are consistently higher than UK averages.

Recent Harrow International School graduates

have been accepted by leading universities

including Cambridge, Imperial College, the

London School of Economics, Warwick,

Edinburgh, Bristol and Nottingham in the UK,

Yale in the USA, as well as other prestigious

universities worldwide.

co-curricular

H A R R O W I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L

The co-curricular programme aims

to provide our students with two

opportunities; firstly to participate in activities

they know that they enjoy and secondly, to

discover and explore new activities which they

can pursue throughout their years at Harrow.

Younger pupils can take their first steps in

ballet, gymnastics and various sports, or hone

their practical skills in activities such as

art and craft.

Older students can involve

themselves in activities that take them beyond

the campus. These include community support

projects such as working with children’s

homes and orphanages.

The heartbeat of any Boarding House is the

Head of Boarding and their staff.

It is Harrow’s great fortune to have an

experienced and highly regarded person, who

is a member of the Boarding Schools

Association, to oversee the academic and

pastoral welfare of our boarders.

In a green setting overlooking the playing

fields, the Houses have a relaxed and

welcoming atmosphere which provides a

safe, happy and structured environment for our

students. Supervised homework sessions,

access to superb library and sporting facilities,

leisure activities and interesting trips combine to

enhance the boarding experience.

H A R R O W I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L

H A R R O W I N T E R N A T I O N A L S C H O O L

Fifteen nationalities mix freely within their House

in an environment where students can hone

their English language skills, as this is the

common language spoken.

Harrow boarders mix in school with the day

pupils, but also gain strong bonds with

their fellow residents that help

them become more independent,

organised and able to

develop their own personality and strengths.

Indeed, the Harrow boarding experience

helps to form and shape children as

they navigate the important teenage path,

smoothing out the rough and providing calm

after the rush of the day.
