College Conversation: NDMS Creates

a College–Bound Culture

Dear friends,

Don’t allow the joy of the holiday season to be overshadowed by the stress of all the “preparation work.” As we struggle with our own to-do lists, please remember the reason we prepare...the big people and little people in our lives who are worth the aggravation, decoration, shopping, baking, etc. You do so much for others, but please take time for YOU.

December Student Spotlight Ketania Hall, Pembroke Elementary School

STLP Teams Advance to State

Ketania Hall is a 5th grade student at Pembroke Elementary School. She was selected as the December Student of the Month by Pembroke Principal Mr. Matthew Boehman. Ketania was selected for making the Principal's List during the first nine weeks of school. Her love for school and the extra time she puts into her studies makes her a wonderful student. She is an active member of the Pembroke Choir and Green Team. In her spare time, she takes care of her Grandmother’s pets. Ketania is pictured with her father, cousins, grandmother and Mr. Boehman (left). She was recognized at the Novem-ber 20th School Board Meeting.

Exiting School Board Members Reflect on Service Over the Years

On November 7, schools across Christian County competed in the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) regional competi-tion in Murray, KY. As a result, 13 schools from Christian County will advance to the state competition in March.

Schools with winning showcases include the Gateway Academy, Belmont, CCHS, CCMS, Holiday, HHS, HMS, Lacy, Millbrooke, NDMS, Pembroke, Sinking Fork and South Christian Elementary School.

In addition, the district had three students named as STLP Engi-neers. Engineers include Cannon Cornelius, Daniel Orten and Ra-ven Sibley. Congratulations to these students and teams!

“It’s been an honor to be invested in the system, as I had three children in the school system and public education has always been important to me. Over the course of my tenure I am proud of many decisions. I was once told by a former school board member, Richard Brame, to always put the students first in any and all decisions. I truly be-lieve in early childhood education and being able to ex-pand preschool services across the district is something I am particularly proud of during my years of service. Over-all, I am excited for the district and the great things hap-pening within. I have enjoyed working with everyone over the last 16 years. We have the best teachers and adminis-trators in the state. I thank you for all of your hard work.”

Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill thanks Ms. DeBow for her years of service as a teacher, principal , district admin-istrator and school board member. This system lies near and dear to her heart and we wish her the very best.

National Honor Society Club of CCHS Reads to local children on Community Reader Day

In celebration of Community Reader Day on November 7th, NHS students visited the local Headstart Program to show children the im-portance of reading. NHS Club Sponsor Bianca Crockam says students re-ceived service points for this project, but most important-ly students were able to serve as positive role models to children within the com-munity while sharing their joy for reading.
