Dear Parishioners,

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. This Feast ends the Christmas Season and webegin Ordinary Time. As we draw to a close the Christmas Season, I would like to again thank all thosewho participated in the various liturgies and to thank the Parishioners for their extraordinary generosity tothe Parish and to the Priests of the Parish. The rectory is well stocked with many goodies that will last uswell into Lent and this years Christmas, flower and New Year’s offerings are running well above last years.I truly thank you for all of your support.

At the Lord’s Baptism He was anointed by the Holy Spirit as priest, prophet and king. This began thepublic ministry of the Lord. He was thirty at the time of His Baptism. The Lord now publicly acknowledgesthat He has come to do the will of the Father and establish the Kingdom of God.

At our own baptism we are anointed, with the sacred Chrism oil, as priest prophet and king. We now sharein the Lord’s divine ministry as missionary disciples. How do we live this out in our parish community? How do we live out the Father’s Will in our daily lives? Do we take seriously the call to establish theKingdom of God?

Baptism is not just about initiation and belonging. It is about being endowed with the responsibility tobring God’s love into the world. We have to reflect on how we carry this out. What are the internal andexternal forces that prevent us from extending ourselves even further in service of the suffering Christ inour world?

The symbols of our Baptism are used twice in our life. At the time of our Baptism we have watered pouredon us, we are clothed in whiter and the Paschal Candle is lit. When it is time for our Funeral these samesymbols are used, the coffin is sprinkled with Holy Water, it is covered with the white pall and the PaschalCandle is lit. As we have been baptized into Christ we share in His life, passion, death and resurrection.Through the journey of life, He is present to us asking us to utilize the gifts that we have been given to helpbuild up His Kingdom. His promise is to always be present, loving and faithful to His Church.

Twenty Twenty is clear. I invite you to our School’s Open House on Thursday, January 23rd from 3:00pm-7:00pm. Please come to the Parish Center where your tour will begin and you can visit our Nursery andPre K, the “Big School” K- 6 hosting our media and STEM Center and our Junior High School. Thesecond annual Parish Social is right around the corner – featuring Peter Mazzeo and the Hit Squadperforming songs from their New York Bee Gees show. Tickets are selling quickly – try to purchase themtoday.

God bless and have a good week.Msgr. Camp
