IntegraSpec ICF Wins Heavy Commercial Award World of Concrete, Las Vegas, Nevada

January 24, 2008 IntegraSpec ICF was honoured to receive another ICF Builder Heavy Commercial Award at the World of Concrete, Las Vegas, Nevada. This represents IntegraSpec ICF’s third successive ICF Builder Heavy Commercial Award. Mr. Clark Ricks, Director, ICF Builder, Mapleton, Utah, presented the Award to Mr. Mark Ross, Mr. Tom Boardman, Mr. Eldon Howe, and Mr. Bob Duren. These ICF Professionals were instrumental in the IntegraSpec ICF construction of the 110 unit, four storey Comfort Suite Hotel project in Tifton, Georgia. Of primary consideration, Mr. Ricks reported that the Tifton Georgia Comfort Suites Hotel was constructed with total composite concrete floors by the same professionals. Of interesting note, this project used more ICFs than any other entry and the IntegraSpec portion was completed in only twelve weeks. Mr. Ricks pointed out the lack of waste, monolithic deck and wall connections, IntegraBuck technology for all window openings, and absence of wood bulkheading at floor connections. “This amazing building has advanced the ICF industry.” The prestigious award is a very welcome addition to the numerous Energy Efficiency, ICFA Excellence, Healthy Home, Global Traders, EnviroHome, Environmental Excellence, EnerQuality Corporation Design Excellence, Earth Preserver, and ICF Builder Awards received for IntegraSpec ICF projects and products since 1997. IntegraSpec ICF wallsystem is on display in the National Museum of Science and Technology. IntegraSpec ICF has numerous North American and International manufacturing locations, and is recognized globally as a leader in Insulated Concrete Form Technology.

Comfort Inns and Suites in Tifton, GA receives TripAdvisor.com’s top ranking in Popularity Index

Since opening in 2008, Comfort Inns and Suites – Tifton has been “hot”. This four storey hotel on I-75 was recognized by ICF Builder as an Award Winning Heavy Commercial Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) project. PowerSmart Builders accepted the award at the World of Concrete, Las Vegas, NV.

JL Williams Investment Group’s new hotel received additional accolades recently as Trip Advisor, an online media network that attracts nearly 32 million monthly visitors, awarded the first IntegraSpec ICF Comfort Inns and Suites a “Number One” ranking of seventeen hotels in Tifton. This rating measures overall traveler satisfaction based on ratings, reviews, and other sources. Further, this hotel has been awarded “Platinum” status by Choice Hotels International. Hotels that achieve the prestigious Platinum Award represent the top three percent of hotels. The awards are based on a ranking system that measures guest satisfaction, product quality, room condition, cleanliness, and staff service. These properties have a proven track record of providing exceptional guest service and facilities.

If reviews at the Trip Advisor website are any indication, new guests have rewarding experiences ahead of them. A recurring theme is the Peace And Quiet travellers enjoy, despite the close proximity of I-75, one of America’s busiest interstates. One Trip Advisor member stated, “We stayed at this hotel after reading the glowing reviews on this site. It lived up to and exceeded these reviews. We were given the kind of room we wanted. It was very clean and Very quiet. We need the quiet as my husband has severe sleep problems. Due to many bad experiences he dreads staying in hotels. All he can say about our experience is that this is how a hotel should be. He called it marvellous and a jewel, even quieter than home….We plan to stay here every time we go to or from Florida in the future.” The exterior and interior walls of the building, constructed with IntegraSpec ICF and concrete / steel composite floors, has a room to room Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating greater than 50! With total sound isolation for each room, a quiet night’s rest is assured. However; the key benefit, safety, is probably the largest benefit. With three hour room to room fire ratings, the opportunity for fire to spread is very low. Natural disaster resistance is increased dramatically, providing much greater protection from high winds, and associated projectiles. In addition to the awards and accolades, one must not overlook the amazing energy efficiency enjoyed by the hotel owners, the JL Williams Investment Group.

Features:110 unit, four storey hotel. Speedfloor concrete composite floors. Exterior walls 6" IntegraSpec® ICF reinforced concrete core and 5" concrete core interior demising/load bearing walls. IntegraBucks used for window and door openings. Stucco exterior.

Benefits:Fast accurate construction without an on site crane. Twelve man crew completed: reinforced concrete walls with foam board stucco ready; super insulated, strapped/furred ready for sheetrock, vapour barrier, and air barrier; reinforced concrete composite Speedfloor monolithic pour with interior IntegraSpec® walls; in twelve weeks at a lower cost than block and plank construction! Stucco applied directly to IntegraSpec® panels with no control/expansion joints, which are mechanically attached to the reinforced core via dovetail grooves on the inside/concrete face. Unique IntegraBuck system with 1⅝ furring strips ensures a single material substrate for extended stucco warranties. Quiet accommodation for all guests notwithstanding proximity to I-75. “IntegraSpec, Speedfloor, and the stucco exterior was a dramatic and successful combination of concrete technologies. We trusted IntegraSpec’s legendary strength three and four storeys up with no shoring, and were not disappointed once! We poured the Speedfloor decks and IntegraSpec interior walls simultaneously, utilizing 2½" vibrators with no adverse effects on the formwork. The five foot tower on the fourth storey roof was poured prior to the Speedfloor roof deck! In a single 10 hour day, our 12 man crew poured over 1,500 lineal feet of 9'6" tall walls AND 14,000 square feet of flat work; that’s almost 400 yards of concrete!! This truly independent panel form shores itself...an impossible feat with any block system. IntegraSpec self aligned so well, the building is within ¼" ± tolerances plumb, level, and in plane over the entire structure, FAR MORE ACCURATE THAN ANY CONCRETE FORMING SYSTEM ON THE MARKET. This was an unprecedented feat for ICFs and concrete construction.
