A Christmas Message from Mr. O’Neill Welcome to the Christmas edition of the Corpus Christi Chronicle. On behalf of myself and all the staff of
Corpus Christi Primary School I would like to wish all the pupils, parents and friends of our fantastic school
a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We look forward to working very closely with you all
in 2013 as we continue to provide the children of this parish with a well rounded education of the highest

Mrs. McAlea’s Junior Infant’s enjoyed exploring Autumn on the Farm just before Winter arrived. The
children gathered Autumn leaves, berries and conkers on their nature walk through the little wood. Theyharvested lovely tasty vegetables and gathered chicken and duck eggs. Following this they fed Daisy the Cow
and her two calves. They also fed Sally the Donkey. We all cooked apple pie together and our budding chefs
had great fun. The day inished with fun in the playground. Mrs. McAlea

“I heard the bells
on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar
carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth,
good-will to men!”

Junior Infants School trip to Croom
The kids did a nature walk collecting autumn leaves, conkers, acorns etc., helped feed the animals, baked apple tarts and had
play time in the garden as can be seen below in the photomontage from the day. Ms. Nash
Junior infants visited Santa in city hall recently - the children had to bring recycled batteries
to Santa and in exchange, they got a gift each of books or colouring books from Santa.
The children also met Santa’s elves and sang their Christmas carols for him.

Munster Rugby stars John Hayes and Marcus Horan. James, Nicole, Clarissa, Chloe, Tommy and Caitlin were planting trees as part of our schools biodiversity programme. They were accompanied by Mrs Gannon and Tony Buckley.

ar Ceim on December 5th. Activities included

Third Class Tree Planting
I wish you all and your families and loved one the blessings of this Holy Season. I came across the following relection which
might be helpful in approaching the more lasting gifts of this Christmas. Fr Tony
Afirmation
I believe that Christmas is more than a time for parties and decorations and lights. It is a time for remembering Christ and the
Incarnation of God’s love in human lesh.
I believe these are gifts more important that the one under the Christmas tree, the things we teach our children, the way we
share ourselves with friends and neighbours and the ways we set about making the world a better place in our time.
I believe that the inest carols are often sung by the poorest voices ;from hearts made warm by the wonder of the season.I believe in the angel’s message that we should not be afraid - that the Child of Bethlehem is able to overcome all anxieties and
insecurities.
I believe in prayer and quietness as a way of approaching Christmas - that if I wait in silence I will experience the presence of the
one born in the manger, for he lives today as surely as he lived then.
I believe in going away from Christmas as the wise men went “another way”, I want to be different when those days are
past - more centred, more thoughtful, more caring.
Ms Clancy’s 2nd Class recently took part in a sports day in the Bays. Casandra, Steven, Daragh, Debra and Wayne, organised a fun
illed morning of exercise as part of their Leaving Cert applied programme. The Class seriously enjoyed, egg and spoon races(...
potatoes were used to keep the clean up to a minimum!), 3 legged races, sack races and wheelbarrow races. They also took part
in a soccer tournament and Demi, Jordan, Levi and Jack made up the winning team. Before we headed back to school, each Pupil
received a cert for participation and numerous medals. Well Done to all involved.
Sports day in the Bays.
