Book Week Every year across Australia, the Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and books together to celebrate Book Week. This year Book Week will be celebrated from 17 to 23 August 2019 and as part of the celebrations primary will be hosting a Book Week Character Dress Up Day on Friday, 23 August 2019. I am sure we will see lots of superheroes and other character favourites and there will be book prizes for the best costume for each year K-6. Start planning the costumes for the day! ICAS Assessments This year ICAS is moving to an online parent payment system and parents have until 14 August 2019 to

order and pay for assessments. Visit https://pay.unswglobal.com.au/ and enter our unique school code

946758aaff to order and pay online and confirm your child’s participation. Opening the school newsletter

online should also activate a link to assist accessing the webpage.

School Merino Wether Challenge Next week students in Stage 6 Agriculture will travel to Deniliquin to participate in the Southern NSW Heats of the 2019 School Whether Challenge as part of their participation in the program. Thank you to Mrs Briony Fattore for organising such a wonderful opportunity for our students. School Facebook Page We are receiving very positive feedback from the community on our school Facebook page. Over the last few days the page has been used to promote and communicate Education Week, the Primary Spelling Bee, ICAS Assessments and a Temporary School Learning Support Officer vacancy at Tirkandi Inaburra. Keep those ‘likes’ coming! P & C August Meeting The normal August meeting of the P & C will take place next Monday, 12 August 2019 in the School Library at 5.30 pm. Finally…. Our door is and always has been open – whether you are happy, sad or mad. We need to know if we are not doing something right, but I also need to know that you trust our motives and intentions. Everything we do, every single day is for YOUR children. Until next week,

Timothy Allen Principal

Totem Poles The drawings on the totem poles have been finished and the backgrounds are ready to paint with hand prints next Thursday. This will be done as one of our Education Week class activities. Thank you to the parents and friends who have already brought in some containers of paint. If anyone else has some exterior, water-based acrylic house paint you could spare, in any of the following colours, we would appreciate your assistance in creating our native garden feature. We are looking for red, yellow, black, grey, brown and orange in any shade and any amount. Any donations will be gratefully accepted at the front office before Thursday morning. Mrs Lothian

On Friday our School Spelling Bee took place. In each group students showed great spelling talents and compassion towards each

other. Unfortunately only the two remaining spellers from the junior and senior groups are successful to proceed to the next

level.

Well done to all our spelling bee participants for taking part in the classroom spell off and stage Spelling Bee competition.

Congratulations to Xavier Jones and Andrew Fattore from the junior group and Tayla DeMamiel and Cooper Payne from the

senior group who are now elegible to go to the next level.

The Regional Premier Spelling Bee competition is due to take place on Thursday 12th of September.

Good luck to these four spellers and keep practising.

enrol in the Phase 2.

Phase 2 - is delivered after school for students who are interested in extending their experience beyond the school setting. Phase 2 is a paid program which will run on Wednesdays for 6 weeks.

Students may bring their runners to wear during this 30 minute session if they wish too.

More information will be provided tomorrow from the visiting NRL team.
