Henry’s law high the value of KH at a given pressure, the lower is the solubility of the gas in

the liquid.

KH value for O2 increases with increases of temperature indicating that the solubility of gases

decreases with increase in temperature.

(ii) When the blood cell is placed in saline water solution (hypertonic solution) the blood cell will

shrink due to osmosis.

adsorption.

eg – Adsorption of water vapours by silica gel.

During adsorption, there is always a decrease in the residual forces of the surface, i.e, there is

decrease in surface energy which appears as heat. Therefore, it is an exothermic process.

Types of adsorption based on the nature of forces between adsorbate and adsorbent are of two types

physisorption and chemisorption.
