The story is about an astronomer Duttada. His ambition was to discover a comet that would be named after him. So, after his retirement from job, he buys a small but powerful eight- inch telescope and spends most of his time in stargazing. He names his telescope ‘Dibya Chakshu’. And Duttada finally discovers a comet and it


was recognized all over the world and named as ‘Comet Dutta’. But this achievement was closely followed by the speculation that the Comet will collide with the earth resulting in complete destruction. Hence, an urgent meeting of experts from all over the world was called which Duttada also had to attend. Finally, it was decided that through a nuclear explosion in space Comet Dutta could be given a push to change its path a little to prevent the collision. But, the whole thing had to be kept secret to prevent any panic among people. It was code named ‘Project light Brigade’. Finally, the mission was executed successfully. But, Duttada’s educated but superstitious wife thought that the Comet had gone without any disasters because of the Shanti Yajna performed by their grandson khoka on behalf of Duttada. Duttada, felt pity for her and thought that perhaps human society would not grow out of blind belief and silly religion rituals.
