Taft High School student Kati Pina earned Best of Show honors for her entry, “Katy Perry.” Pina’s work was awarded fi rst place for her entry, “Waitress” in the Drawing/Pencil category. Last year, Pina earned fi rst place for her pencil drawing and fi rst place for her colored drawing.

Ten area high schools participated in the annual art competition. Th e award-winning student work was displayed in the Simon Michael Art Gallery in Coastal Bend College’s Frank Jostes Visual Arts Building in Beeville, Texs.

Some high school art competition winners were off ered scholarships to study art at Coastal Bend College.
