President’s Message— Our next general meeting will be on March 3rd @ 7pm at Jackson’s Cafeteria. When you enter, we will be in one of the rooms near the front of the building. Come early and have supper with friends

but you are NOT required to eat, so don’t let that stop you from attending.

As most of you that have been members for a few years, we use to have a very active MSAP program in Gaston County. And then all of a sudden, the director in charge of the school’s drivers education program decided that he didn’t want us in the schools. But now with help from House Speaker Tim Moore and our new MSAP State Director—”Mrs Cat” Terwillinger that is going to change. We are now asking you to be a part of this great one hour program of instructing the young drivers in our county the importance of “Look Twice Save A Life. Motorcycles are Everywhere” There are eleven high schools in Gaston County so we need at least seven or eight MSAP instructors so that we don’t overload the few we already have. As most of you know, those classes are held every month, so you would only be committing to an hour or two a month. Clas-ses are usually held after school starting right after dismissal. We seriously want to resurrect our MSAP pro-gram so if you are interested in helping us out, please get in touch with our new MSAP Director Roger “Dodge” Howard, Donna Barnett or myself. The contact information is listed on the officer’s page in this newsletter. We will schedule a training class with the state director just as soon as we can, so please consid-er participating in this very important program. Last year the MSAP program in NC taught 29,935 kids the meaning of “Look Twice Save A Life.” That’s a lot of kids who will (hopefully) look out for us on the road. Wouldn’t you want your children or grandchildren to be informed about bike riders before they get on the road? And if you live in Lincoln County, Mrs. Cat is looking for someone to help her get the program up and running in your area. If you think you might be interested, just call or email Donna or myself and we will get you in touch with her. By the way, to our Guardians of the Children members, Mrs. Cat is also a member of your organization.

Gaston’s success with winning the awards we won at the state banquet are because of you. If your mem-bership is due or past due, please renew today. I send out renewal cards every month to remind you that your renewal is due so please don’t lay it down and forget to send it back in. For $20 (single) $30 (couple), it’s one of the most important organizations you could ever belong to. Also if you know of a lady that isn’t a member or has let her membership lapse, please encourage her to become a member for only $10 from now until May 31st. We are doing this in conjunction with the “International Female Ride Day” on May 2nd. We are planning a ride that day with the help and support of Indian Motorcycles of Charlotte. The ride will start and end at the Indian dealership. The proceeds from this run will go to the Cathy Mabry Cloninger Center, a domestic violence shelter here in Gaston County. Cathy & Sheriff Alan are lifetime members of Gaston CBA. We hope you will mark your calendar and come out to support the center.

The CBA and the MRF are begging you to go online and support the anti-profiling resolution. You can find the information on page 3 of this newsletter (right after the conclusion of the February meeting minutes). A resolution is not a law but Washington will tell the states that they don’t like profiling and for them to stop it. If they don’t conform the federal government will make a law that the states will have to follow. In other words it will be a strong statement to any law officers or others that profile bikers in a bad way. So please contact your representatives at https://mrf.org/federal-legislative-issues/ and tell them to support the Resolution. We also want you to tell Congress that motorcyclist organizations deserve more representation on the Motor-cyclist Advisory Council. Support H.R. 5234 and S 3249, the Motorcyclist Advisory Council Reauthorization Act, to ensure the voices of the motorcycling community from around the country are heard.

Our riding season never ends around here but more motorcyclists will be on the roads soon, so please watch out and be careful! We’ve lost enough of our members and friends so we don’t want to lose another brother or sister. - Jill

From the Rumor Corner of the Gaston County CBA—

Well Spring is almost here—March 19th to be exact and our riding season here is NC will officially

begin. Please put the following dates on your calendar. Our Spring Fling Ride will be on April 4th.

We sincerely hope you will join us on our ride because we always have fun and the companionship

with each other is the best.

The following weekend is the Creekside Rally so bring your camping gear or camper and hang out

for the weekend with great people, great music and great food from the vendors. We will have a

tent there selling t-shirts, etc. and also we will be signing up new or renewing members. We have a

long list of renewals for the month of April so watch your mail for your renewal notice. We want to

thank the Southern Gentlemen for all the hard work they do putting on this rally because it is a lot of

hard work.

Please support the sponsors we have in this newsletter because without them this newsletter would

not exist. Tell them you are a CBA member and you appreciate their support.

We appreciate all our members and if you want to help out more—please get involved. We really

need MSAP instructors so think about it but say yes to helping out. Please ride safe—Geno

NEEDED IMMEDIATELY! We are actively looking for MSAP (Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Pro-gram) instructors to go into the eleven high schools in Gaston County to teach the upcoming young

drivers about motorcycle awareness. You DO NOT have to be a member of the CBA/ABATE of NC BUT if you sign up for this very special program, Gaston CBA will pay your membership to belong if you so

desire. This is the only program in NC that is taught in the driver’s education program that concerns motorcycles. Come join our MSAP team because we know you will love it and be glad you did. We

also welcome anyone that would just like to take the training class with no commitment. Contact Roger Howard, Donna Barnett or Jill Stillwell (contact info on officer’s page). High school classes last

approximately one hour and if we get enough instructors, you will only teach once or twice a month.

You could save us approximately $25 a year if you would sign up to get it online from our website. Since printing cost is high, we just can’t put as much information in the printed version as we can in the online issue. If you would like to get it online, please let Donna know as soon as possible so we can save money for our chapter.

Also if you have any ideas on how

to retain our members, please let us know.
