NARRATIVE REPORTon

PARENT- TEACHER CONFERENCES.Y. 2011 - 2012

I. INTRODUCTIONSta.Maria Elementary School has an organized Parents- Teacher- Community

Association (PTCA) which was very important of all school undertakings. Homeroom PTCA was organized at the start of the school year prior to the organization of the general or school wide PTCA Elections for the posts of officers were held every year, while meetings, were conducted based on the school calendar activities or as required to discuss various school concerns ranging from pupil performance to fund raising projects.

The PTCA’s active involvement in the affairs of the school was one of the strengths of Sta. Maria Elementary School. Parents have become the school partners in many of its activities. The support given by the parents to the school took many other forms.

II. AUGUST 13, 2010 SATURDAY

Sta. Maria Elementary School held its first may we call it Educational Forum on the date

started. The topics discussed were the following:

1. DepEd Programs and Projects

2. Authorized Voluntary Contribution and other school collections.

3. Distribution of First Grading Report Card

4. Linggo ng Wika Celebration

5. Child Abuse/ Exploitation

6. Nutritional Status of School Children.

The meeting was held in the afternoon, and each teacher was requested to discuss a topicduring the forum, open forum followed after the discussion of the said topics. It was observed that the parents actively participated in the discussion. The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 pm.

III. NOVEMBER 05, 2010 SATURDAY

During the second Parent- Teacher Conference Mr. Eduardo Santos, the SMES President, stated clearly the statement of purpose and the objectives of the forum with some orientation to guide the parents.

The different topics discussed were the following:

Teachers running record of the progress of the child in reading

Pupil’s anecdotal records and teachers comments

Related works of pupils in reading comprehension

World Teachers Day/ Education Week

The meeting started at 9:00 am, with a prayer and roll call by grade level. The topics Were discussed by the school head and open forum followed. The teacher- parents interaction regarding the issues and concerns was highly observed and appreciated.

JANUARY 21, 2011 SATURDAY

On the third day of educational forum, the Parents- Teacher discussed about their children’s performance academically. The parents realized their duties and responsibilities to their children and they valued the education of their pupils. With the parents- teacher conference we noticed the good relationship between parents and teachers or camaraderie among parents. The active participation of the stakeholders in the meetings, they now see themselves in bigger and more responsible roles vis- a – vis their children’s welfare. They sign the homework notebooks daily and supervised their children’s school work at home especially reading books before bedtime.

With no more issues/ concerns/ problems the meeting was adjourned at 11:30 am.

MARCH 28, 2011 SATURDAY

Its special meeting to the parents for the deliberation on the computation of honor pupils from Grade one to Grade six. The school head presented and discussed the grading System and the Ranking of Honor pupils.

The school head assessed the school’s strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to better situation among the strengths of the school were active pupils, dedicated teachers, the teamwork among the school head and teachers, the spirit of voluntarism of parents and Barangay officials, the schools network with community and physically, its newly flooring of school gymnasium. However, the main weakness of this school was the (reading) low performance of Grade one in reading both English and Filipino. The parents kept their end of deal, not only did they help their children review subjects they found difficult, but also encouraged them to read and read books this coming vacation.

At the end, the parents seriously promise that this coming school year, they will supervise their children in their studies and other related work in the school for the betterment of these school children.
