They have heard from small groups and Sunday School classes and community leaders. As they have considered their work, they have looked back at history, the current community landscape and the projections for the future with the latest demo- graphic data. Most importantly, they have prayed and reflected on scripture. This group is the Cayce UMC Long Range Planning Task Force. Their prayerful compilations are almost finished. In the next 60-90 days, they will compose a document for congregational consideration and approval. Be- cause what they are about is not something just for them or a wider but lim- ited circle of leaders. Their hope is that Cayce UMC will take ownership of this discerned vision and that that vision will set our priorities for the next five years. It is my hope that the our Long Range Plan will focus us forward; with this focus, programming, staffing, and how we are the church together will be prioritized. As soon as the Task Force finishes its work we will find ways to disseminate their work, have conversation and get feedback from as many people within the life of the church as we can. It is my hope that we will then have a charge or church conference to refine and approve the Plan. Please pray for the Long Range Planning Task Force in this crucial phase of their work. NEEDED FOR GOD’S HELPING HANDS August

Bath Soap, Crackers & Juice

Since the first part of the year, they have gathered. They have heard from small groups and Sunday School classes and community leaders. As they have considered their work, they have looked back at history, the current community landscape and the projections for the future with the latest demo-graphic data. Most importantly, they have prayed and reflected on scripture. This group is the Cayce UMC Long Range Planning Task Force.

Their prayerful compilations are almost finished. In the next 60-90 days, they will compose a document for congregational consideration and approval. Be-cause what they are about is not something just for them or a wider but lim-ited circle of leaders.

Peace,

Joseph

ONLINE GIVING We now have the ability to give to our church through our website! Simply go the Cayce UMC website, cayceumc.com, and look to the right of the red banner on the top of the page. Click on Online Giving, then you will see a welcome page which will explain the ways you can use the new Online Giving option. Just under the explana-tion, you will see “Go to Online Giving” in red. Click on that and you will be able to sign up for the new opportunity. After you have done that, you will be able to get reports of your online giving, change your giving, and even give a one time gift. At this point we can give the General Fund in support of the budget or to the Anvil Fund but more giv-ing opportunities will be added as the need arises. More information will be forthcoming over the next couple of months, but you can start giving now. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call Cal Atwood at the church of-fice at 803-794-3200.

BACKPACK NEWS First of all, we would like to thank EVERYONE who supported the Davis Early Child-hood Center for Technology Backpack program last school year. It was a wonderful outreach ministry for CUMC and everyone, from our members, to the children, to soror-ity students from USC, were involved and enthusiastic! Now - we’d like to do it again! On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, after the Wednesday night supper (6:15 pm), we will be meeting in the Mann Building for a quick training session for those of you who are interested in assisting with the Backpack Ministry. A sign-up sheet for the packing dates will be available for those of you who wish to be packers. A team of two to three people should be adequate for each packing session and we will be packing 60 bags again this year. We may also need some backup assistance in deliveries this year on Friday mornings for those of you who are available. If you or your group is interested in helping with this worthwhile outreach ministry, please try to attend this meeting. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact Charlie McClure at 791-5087 or email at [email protected]. We know it will be as successful this year as it was last year! And the children really do appreciate it!!!
