1 July 2019 Week 10, Term 2, 2019 FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK: Dear Parents and Friends of Cawdor PS The end of term is almost here and everyone is looking forward to a resul holiday. Term 2 has been an excellent ten weeks of student learning and achievements and I am very proud of the effort that all of the children have made throughout the term. The Footsteps disco was greatly enjoyed by the children last Thursday night. A big thank you goes to Mrs Hillier for organising the pizza orders and the booking of the church hall as well as buying the drinks and icecreams for the night. Thank you also to Mrs Kidd, Mrs Lewit, Mrs Forbes, Mrs Turner and Mrs Sitkowski who came to help with the disco. We really appreciate them giving up their evening with their families. Thanks also to the parents who helped out on the night. Last Friday the years 3 to 6 played in the final soccer gala day and I was very fortunate to arrive at the fields just as the senior boys and senior girls won their last matches. Congratulaons go to the junior boys who came very close to winning their tournament. Thanks again to Mrs Kidd, Mrs Sitkowski, Mrs Turner and Mrs Fahri who accompanied our teams to the events. Semester one student reports were sent home today and the parent/teacher interviews will mainly be held tomorrow aſternoon/night. The teachers are looking forward to meeng with you to discuss the children’s progress. If you have not yet made an interview me, please speak to Mrs Hillier in the morning. I also encourage you to write a comment on your child’s report—the teachers and children really value your feedback on the children’s progress. The selecon process for the new principal is sll underway but I am hoping to be able to have a handover to the new principal during the holidays. I will nofy everyone by email and School Stream as soon as I have confirmaon of an appointment. Finally, as this is my last newsleer to you, I would like to say thank you to everyone –to all parents, carers and staff, thank you for your connued support and friendship. 1 July 2019 Week 10, Term 2, 2019

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK: Dear Parents and Friends of Cawdor PS

The end of term is almost here and everyone is looking forward to a restful holiday.

Term 2 has been an excellent ten weeks of student learning and achievements and I am

very proud of the effort that all of the children have made throughout the term.

The Footsteps disco was greatly enjoyed by the children last Thursday night. A big thank

you goes to Mrs Hillier for organising the pizza orders and the booking of the church hall

as well as buying the drinks and icecreams for the night. Thank you also to Mrs Kidd, Mrs

Lewit, Mrs Forbes, Mrs Turner and Mrs Sitkowski who came to help with the disco. We

really appreciate them giving up their evening with their families. Thanks also to the

parents who helped out on the night.

Last Friday the years 3 to 6 played in the final soccer gala day and I was very fortunate to

arrive at the fields just as the senior boys and senior girls won their last matches.

Congratulations go to the junior boys who came very close to winning their tournament.

Thanks again to Mrs Kidd, Mrs Sitkowski, Mrs Turner and Mrs Fahri who accompanied

our teams to the events.

Semester one student reports were sent home today and the parent/teacher interviews

will mainly be held tomorrow afternoon/night. The teachers are looking forward to

meeting with you to discuss the children’s progress. If you have not yet made an

interview time, please speak to Mrs Hillier in the morning. I also encourage you to write

a comment on your child’s report—the teachers and children really value your feedback

on the children’s progress.

The selection process for the new principal is still underway but I am hoping to be able

to have a handover to the new principal during the holidays. I will notify everyone by

email and School Stream as soon as I have confirmation of an appointment.

Finally, as this is my last newsletter to you, I would like to say thank you to everyone –to

all parents, carers and staff, thank you for your continued support and friendship. It has

been an absolute privilege to have been part of such a wonderful school community for

so many years. To all the students, I am very proud of each one of you and it has been a

delight to work with you in my final year at Cawdor.

Cawdor will always have a special place in my heart.

I wish everyone a relaxing and safe holiday and all the very best for the remainder of

2019.

Kind Regards, Ms Sharon Ihlein

GALA DAY SOCCER

The Junior and Senior boys soccer teams had a great time at the Gala Days. Their skills

increased incredibly over the 3 Fridays and they displayed great attitudes throughout. Whether

we won or lost, the children all displayed good sportsmanship towards the other teams and each

other. Our player of the day awards went to Noah, Hewson, Cooper, Attilio and William. Our top

scorers were Noah and Hewson. Overall, we only lost 5 games out of 26. The junior boys did

particularly well. They were in first place after the second Gala Day and finished up coming third

overall. All the students did a fantastic job representing the school. Well done!

Congratulations to the Junior and Senior girls soccer teams for displaying fantastic

sportsmanship, participation and soccer skills throughout the three gala days. Both teams

experienced wins, draws and losses and showed continued determination right to the end of

every game. It was very hard to choose just one player of the day for each team as there were

so many deserving players, but congratulations to Sofia, Jacklyn and Zara in the seniors and

Lillie, Megan, Arwen and Ameya–Blossom for the juniors. Our top goal scorer was Lillie who

scored goals for both the junior and senior teams, with additional goals being scored by Zara,

Jessica, Sofia and Ameya-Blossom. It was wonderful to see the continued improvement of all

players over the three days of competition. Well done everyone!
