She is the author of  “The Giving Way to Happiness: Stories & Science Behind the Life-changing Power of Giving,” coming in October 2015 from Penguin Random House. “I want everyone to embrace the idea that we should give not until it hurts, but until it feels great . I want people  to stay on course even though the reality is that giving doesn’t always feel good: donors get disenchanted, many charities are cheerless, many nonprofit workers burn out, and asks get annoying. I people to discover what kind of giving makes them happy and what doesn’t; how to support causes they can be proud of, discover their core values to ensure they’re supporting things that line up with their interests and beliefs, how to avoid scams, and how to engage in other high-impact, non-monetary ways to give.”
