Nowadays, sheet or web offset printing is a mainstream of multi-color printing in Japan.
So, mottling-free multi-color printing is getting more important and more difficult with an
increase in printing speed.
In this paper, mottling problems are investigated with emphasis on the causes and remedies
for them within coating and drying processes of coated paper production, as well as on suitable
SBR latex designs for mottling-free coated paper.
