Whether leaving for work, moving to another location, taking children out of the house, going shopping, or forced relocation from urban development, each person is faced with daily choices for leaving home. How does someone leave their home? And what do they belong to?, are starting questions for our collective, community-based research and actions in the Culburb-Psary Project. This project will bring the artistic collective, Cauda Pavonis, an international group of artists and facilitators to explore the borderlands involving collective relationships to home and place, and the spaces around them. Our plan is to create and enact a communitarian process: to facilitate a collective charette for revisioning the future direction and dreams of the community; to involve community members with artistic actions and group processes: to involve children and families to re-member unforgettable memories, sounds, and dreams; to invite community representatives and volunteers imagining visions for their own future, and to celebrate our findings in the form of performances, soundscapes, workshops, documentary, and happenings, culminating with a summer festival. Our intention is to catalyze a new zone of development where local, cultural resources are celebrated, supported, and visioned. The outcome will be to open a new space to re-imagine the role of culture in development with a model for a community process for people to celebrate the present while envisioning dreams of enactment for their own communities, discovering the synergy of collective creativty.
