Software Announcement April 29, 2003 CATIA V5.11: Mastering Product Development Success Overview This release increases CATIA V5s lead in end-to-end product authoring process coverage for the automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, electrical, and electronics industries. Seven new products and over 100 enhanced applications deliver productivity improvements across the V5 portfolio. V5.11 is a key release for the shape design and styling domain. The new CATIA-Shape Sculptor 2 (DSS) product delivers clay modeling-like capabilities for shape creation and modification. New process-oriented features in CATIA-Generative Shape Optimizer 2 (GSO) complement this new product. In the analysis domain, new solid meshing and dynamic response products strengthen CATIA V5s native offering of core analysis processes. The new, highly-productive CATIA-Composites Design 3 (CPD) solution takes advantage of CATIA V5s integration and specification-driven approach. V5.11 strengthens entry Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) dedicated solutions with performance gains in large assembly management through automatic selective loading of relevant data, a critical requirement for the industrial machinery industry. Extended capabilities are also delivered through a new Platform 1 (P1) structure design product, extensive new capabilities in V5s welding solution, and the next generation of the V5 sheetmetal design environment. Stronger integration between CATIA and SMARTEAM leverages the best-of-breed in CAD integration for entry PLM collaborative engineering solutions. V5.11 strengthens collaborative engineering in heterogeneous environments, especially through extended standard format handling, healing capabilities, and new shape-tolerant modeling features. The Engineering Hub is strengthened through further tightening of CATIA-ENOVIA integration, promoting product definition and lifecycle management. Description

CATIA V5 is the cornerstone of a true integration ofpeople, tools, methodologies and resources within anenterprise. Its unique underlying Product ProcessResource (PPR) model and workplace approach providea truly collaborative environment that fosters creativity,sharing, and communication. CATIA′s built-in capacity tocapture and reuse know-how will both drive theimplementation of corporate design best practices andfree end-users to focus on creativity and innovation.

In addition to CATIA V5.11′s portfolio of more than 140applications, the open CATIA V5 Application Architectureallows an ever growing number of third-party vendors tocreate specialized applications to meet specific OEMneeds in the same user environment.

V5.11 increases CATIA V5′s lead in end-to-end productauthoring process coverage for the automotive,aerospace, consumer goods, electrical, and electronicsindustries. Seven new products and enhancements tomore than 100 previously announced products deliverproductivity improvements across the V5 portfolio.

This is a key release for the shape design and stylingdomain. The new CATIA-Shape Sculptor 2 (DSS) productdelivers clay modeling-like capabilities for shape creationand modification. Its core polygonal modeling technologyincludes polymesh editing tools (decimation, refinement,smoothing, slicing, and stitching) that operate eitherlocally or globally through 3D sculpting tools. Thisproduct supports associative modeling through continuityand distance constraints set between curves, surfaces,and polymeshes, all of which are critical for styling in theautomotive and consumer goods industries.

In addition to this new product, CATIA-Generative ShapeOptimizer 2 (GSO) delivers new process-oriented featuresfor accelerating global shape morphing. Existing shapescan be easily deformed using defined constraints, suchas targeted points and curves. It also includes adedicated automotive body-in-white feature, called“Diabolo seat,” which allows the design of this complexelement with a few clicks of the mouse.

In the analysis domain, new products for solid meshingand dynamic response strengthen the domain′s coreprocesses. CATIA-Generative Dynamic ResponseAnalysis 2 (GDY) provides designers with an interactiveworkbench for computing and analyzing dynamicresponses of systems, whatever the industry. CATIA-FEMSolid 2 (FMD) extends the CATIA-Generative PartStructural Analysis 2 (GPS) solid mesher with anadvanced tetrahedron filler for creating complex solidparts. This capability is especially relevant in automotivepower train processes, such as mechanical and fluidanalysis.

The new CATIA-Composites Design 3 (CPD) product takesadvantage of CATIA V5′s integrated andspecification-driven approach. This innovative approachuses a true conceptual design tool to reduce the timerequired to design composites parts, especially in theaerospace industry.

V5.11 strengthens entry-PLM dedicated solutions withperformance gains in large assembly managementthrough the automatic selective loading of relevant data,a critical requirement for the industrial machineryindustry. This selective semantic unstreaming integrationis transparent to the user and allows smart memorymanagement.

This release delivers a new application for structuredesign. CATIA-Structure Design 1 (SR1), dedicated tosimple heavy structures, allows the user to rapidly designstructures using elements obtained from catalogs ofstandard or customized sections as building blocks.CATIA-Weld Design 1 (WD1) extends its weldingcapabilities by providing more flexibility (declare any partas a weld) and usability (dashed weld). This release alsointroduces the next-generation sheetmetal environmentfor the industrial machinery and electrical and electronicsindustries. The environment employs a newinfrastructure that fosters greater productivity, reliability,and flexibility.

Stronger integration between CATIA and SMARTEAMleverages the best-of-breed in CAD integration for entryPLM collaborative engineering solutions. SMARTEAMimmersive integration into the CATIA V5 interface hasbeen improved with new SMARTEAM commands, such asFile-Open , Insert Component , and User Feature , forimproved ease of use. The support of CATIA V5contextual links through SMARTEAM improves relationaldesign capabilities and facilitates life cycle management.V5.11 delivers a fully deployable solution for V4customers, with enhancements for ensuring a smoothtransition. The transition from V4 functional tolerancingand dimensioning is improved with support for note objectattributes, flag notes, and dimensions, as well as V4electrical connectors.

Extended capabilities in standard format handling, healingassistance, and new shape-tolerant modeling featuresautomate processes in heterogeneous environments andminimize the time spent on unproductive tasks.CATIA-Healing Assistant 1 (HA1) finds additionalduplicated geometries, non-manifold situations, and smallsurfaces. The CATIA-IGES interface (IG1) helps the userto identify the invalid geometries, such as borders of asurface that are not closed, borders distant from surfaces,or auto-intersections. The CATIA-Generative ShapeDesign application achieves a productivity breakthrough,thanks to a tolerant modeling capability for fills, lofts, andsweeps.

The Engineering Hub is strengthened through the ongoingevolution of CATIA-ENOVIA collaboration in such varieddomains as knowledge, electrical, and analysis, allowingusers to take advantage of ENOVIA capabilities. Allknowledge relations, including rules, checks, reactions,and sets of equations can now be stored in ENOVIA VirtualProduct Manager (ENOVIAVPM) as relational data. In theelectrical domain, specifications can be stored andretrieved, as can wire routing processes, from adatabase. Data derived from CAE specifications can bestored in ENOVIAVPM, SMARTEAM, and ENOVIA V5Lifecycle Applications (ENOVIA V5 LCA).

In V5.11, the seamless integration between CAEs andspecialized design applications (structure design,body-in-white fasteners) provides a step forward forintegrated analysis of native process definitions.Automatic retrieval of mechanical specifications definedin CATIA-Equipment Support Structure 2 (ESS) and/orCATIA-Structure Design 1 (SR1) trigger the creation of 1Dmesh properties. Transparent association of spot weldingspecifications defined in CATIA-Automotive Body-in-WhiteFastening 3 (ABF) with an analysis model can be usedstraightforwardly to perform the relevant simulation.

CATIA V5′s pervasive use of knowledgeware across theapplications is further extended in analysis optimization,mold tooling design, and real time rendering. Analysissensors, such as displacement, von Mises, frequency, andenergy can be defined locally and reused as knowledgeparameters for optimization in CATIA-Product EngineeringOptimizer 2 (PEO). Default rules for positioning and

dimensioning CATIA-Mold Tooling Design 2 (MTD)elements, as well as Real Time Rendering 2 (RTR) cameraparameters, give the user the ability to be moreproductive while complying with corporate standards.

V5.11 expands drafting conformity and quality throughcorporate drafting standards integration. Extensivedescriptions of company standards in such domains asgraphical properties, sketched geometry, and line typesand fonts ensure the reliability and quality of designs forthe company.

CATIA — Structure Design 1 (5691-SR1, 5693-SR1)

CATIA — Structure Design 1 allows users to simply andquickly create linear and curved structures and platesusing standard or user-defined sections. By takingadvantage of the product′s optimized interface, the usercan employ fully associative design-in-context capabilitiesto easily create and modify structures. Design tableaccess to a parametric catalog and the ability to createcustomized bills of materials further optimize design andmodification tasks. Structure Design 1 is nativelyintegrated with other CATIA applications that can helpcomplete the structure design process by allowing theuser to perform related tasks, such as extensive stressanalysis on structure elements and beams.

Creation of several types of structures — Users can definea variety of linear, curved, and twisted structures usingstandard (I, U, L, T, rectangular or round bars and pipesections) or user-defined sections. An intuitive gridfunction ensures easy placement in 3D space ofstructures using linear, directional, and point-to-pointplacement.

Design in context — Users can create structures byreferencing geometrical objects or existing structures(faces, edges, or vertices) and optionally keep fullassociativity.

Optimized user interface — The Structure Design 1 userinterface is optimized for placing structure elements.Employing standard windows, users can retrievestandardized structure attributes and then use a previewvisualization to validate their choices. The CATIA V5environment provides numerous options, such as 3D,zoom, and compass, to optimize the visualization.

Assembly instantiation through user-defined templates —The product delivers highly productive tools for managingassembly instantiation and penetration. Users can eveninstantiate assembly templates that are based onreusable templates. These templates were created byexperts who captured company standards and bestpractices within them. This method allows users to beextremely productive while at the same time ensuringthat their designs comply with company standards andbest practices. These templates can be used for suchoperations as automatically instantiating stiffeners alonga beam or managing the standard penetration of plates(standard openings or cut-outs).

Access to parametric catalogs through design tables —Using the standard section catalogs that are deliveredwith the product, users can easily and intuitively defineparametric sections as well as create their own sectioncatalog. A standard catalog browser is included in theworkbench.

Creation of several structures at the same time — Userscan create, in one operation, several structures betweentwo reference structures or two edges of a plate byspecifying the number of “in-fills,” the spacing, or byletting the software calculate the number. The referencestructure can also be a wireframe plan or the face of anexisting element, whether the element is parallel or not.The user can choose different modes, such asperpendicular to reference 1 or perpendicular toreference 2, to define and place the structures.

Full modification capabilities for design changes —Advanced functions, such as Move, Rotate, and Mirror,enable users to position and re-place structures. Theuser can modify types, sections, limits, anchor points,thickness, and the orientation of linear and curvedstructures, as well as material attributes. • General Functional Enhancements

− Usability of Contour Selection

-- When the user′s intent is to select severalcontours in one shot, the objective is to providethe ability to easily and quickly multiselectseveral contours, without being asked numeroustimes to close the gaps.

About Dynamic Response Analysis

There are two main differences between static anddynamic analysis. The first is that the load applied to apart is not a constant: it varies according to duration orto frequency. • Preprocessing on Groups of Features — Users nowhave the ability to create groups of features (surfaces,edges, solids...) and then apply analysis specificationsto them, eliminating the need to select each featureand apply the analysis specifications each time.Furthermore, the groups were introduced in V5.10 forpost processing purpose, so now users can definegroups during preprocessing and analyze the resultsby groups as well. The advantage of the groupscapability is first to apply quickly and moreconsistently analysis specifications and second toenable more precise and easier sub-mechanismassessment.

• Performance Improvement for Solving — Thecomputation performance for large models is greatlyimproved in this release by increasing threefold theamount of memory available. No action on the partof the user is required to take advantage of thisimprovement.

MultiCAx UD Plug-in (5691-UDL)

This new plug-in allows the user to read Unigraphics partsand assemblies (up to UG V18) using direct translation.It supports:

• Exact positioning and exact measurement of partsusing facilities offered by the digital mock-up tool, suchas planes, coordinate systems, and cylinder axes(when transfer of exact geometry is performed)

• Two translation modes:

− Interactive mode, in which the user can insertnative UG data directly into the digital mock-up

Upgrade paths have been developed to protect your V4investment by providing, in most cases, a path to upgradeexisting V4 configurations or combinations of V4complementary (a la carte) products to their V5functionally equivalent packages with no additionalprimary license (PLC) charge. CATIA — User Companion for Analysis Product(5691-SAS) and CATIA — User Companion for AnalysisEnterprise Option Product (5795-SAS)

These products address the how-to education needs ofusers of the CATIA — Generative Part Structural Analysis1 and CATIA — Generative Part Structural Analysis 2products. The User Companion can be offered as anEnterprise Option product (5795-SAS) or as a shareableproduct (5691-SAS). The Enterprise Option license offersa reduced Primary License Charge (PLC) and requiresthat the purchase of licenses in a quantity equal to thequantity of each licensed CATIA product or configurationin which one of these products is used. The UserCompanion must therefore be licensed on a one-to-onerelationship between it and each licensed Generative PartStructural Analysis product. This includes each licensedstandard configuration that includes Generative PartStructural Analysis 1 or 2, custom configurations builtusing the Generative Part Structural Analysis 2 Add-onProduct (5693-GPS) or Generative Part Structural Analysis1 Add-on Product (5693-GP1), and all shareableGenerative Part Structural Analysis 2 Products(5691-GPS).

Summary of Changes for V5.11

• For Microsoft Windows, Windows 98, andWindows NT are no longer supported. OnlyWindows 2000 Professional Edition and Windows XPProfessional Edition are supported.

• For all platforms, the minimum disk storagerequirement is increased.

• For IBM AIX , POWER4 is added to the list ofsupported system units.

• For HP-UX, HP-UX 11.11 (HP-UX 11i) is added to the listof supported operating systems and Fire GL-UX isadded to the list of supported graphics adapters.

• For SGI IRIX, InfinitePerformance is added to the listof supported graphics adapters.

Common Hardware Requirements: The followingrequirements are common to all operating systemssupported by this release. System unit and graphicsadapter requirements are platform-specific and arespecified in subsequent topics below.

Required Components and Features

• Disk Drive: An internal or external disk drive(minimum recommended size is 4 GB) is required tostore program executables, program data, the userenvironment, and to provide paging space. Installationof all CATIA V5 products requires 2.0 GB on Windows,2.4 GB on AIX, 2.7 GB on HP-UX, 2.5 GB on IRIX, and2.3 GB on Solaris.

• Memory: 256 MB of RAM is the minimumrecommended for all applications. 512 MB of RAM isrecommended for DMU applications on largeassemblies and for the Digitized Shape Editor 2 (DSE)product. Requirements may be greater when largeamounts of data are used.

• Internal/External Drives: A CD-ROM drive is requiredfor program installation and for access to the onlinedocumentation, which can optionally be downloaded todisk.

• Display: A graphics color display compatible with theselected platform-specific graphics adapter. Theminimum recommended size for usability reasons is17 inches. Minimum resolution for Windowsworkstations is 800 x 600 and 1280 x 1024 for UNIXworkstations. When selecting a graphics adapter,hardware texturing capability is stronglyrecommended when using CATIA V5 products that usetexture mapping, in which case the amount of textureRAM has to be adequate for the number andcomplexity of textures to be used.

• Keyboard: A specific keyboard compatible with theselected installation locale may be required fornational language support.

• Pointing Device: Three-button mouse. On Windowsworkstations, a two-button mouse may alternativelybe used (the third button is emulated with a keyboardsequence). The three-button mouse is recommendedfor usability reasons. IntelliMouse (two buttons plus awheel instead of the third button) is an alternative tothe three-button mouse on Windows workstations. Thewheel acts as the middle button to allow additionalmanipulations, such as panning and scrolling.

• Optional Components and Features: For CATIA P2 andP3, SpaceBall or SpaceMouse, in addition to thestandard mouse, can be used to perform graphicmanipulations (zoom, pan, rotate). The requireddrivers are delivered with these devices. Support ofthese devices is also available with the DMU Navigator1 and DMU Space Analysis 1 P1 products.

The robustness of the overall solution is dependent on therobustness of the operating system and the hardwareenvironment used. Windows and UNIX hardwareconfigurations certified by Dassault Systemes for runningCATIA products are published at:

Prerequisites for the Licensing Environment

• License Use Management (LUM) is required to serveconcurrent licenses across a network. A LUMconfiguration file (i4ls.ini) is required on CATIA clientsto access concurrent licenses from these servers.

Macro Replay Capabilities

CATIA V5 has built-in macro record and replaycapabilities. For UNIX, the interpreter is VB Script 3.0from Mainsoft. Its components are included in CATIA V5as shared libraries.

For Windows, the interpreter is either:

• VB Script at a minimum level of V5.0. It is deliveredwith Microsoft Internet Explorer. VB Script librariesat level 5.0.0.3715 are delivered with Microsoft InternetExplorer 5.0 or at later levels with later versions ofInternet Explorer. Use of VB Script is recommendedfor developing Windows- and UNIX-compatible macros.

• Microsoft VisualBasic for Applications (VBA) at aminimum level of 6.0. VBA is delivered and installedby default with CATIA V5.

Printer and Plotter Support

• UNIX — CATIA V5 provides support for the followingplotter/printer languages:

− CGM-ISO, ATA, CALS− Hewlett Packard HP-GL/2-RTL and HP-GL or IBM-GL

subsets− OCE Graphics GPR50: VDF plotting routines− PostScript

• Windows — Printers and plotters are supportedthrough the vendor′s drivers for the targeted printeror plotter relative to the targeted version of theoperating system. Contact the printer or plottervendor for requirements and support.

Batch Monitoring using MQSeries

Using MQSeries communication tools, some batchoperations can now be launched remotely. Whenimplemented at the batch level, this optional featurerequires MQSeries at minimum level 5.2. For availabilityof client and server components on supported platforms,visit:

MQSeries Client is required on systems where thetransaction is initiated. MQSeries Server is required onsystems where remote batches are executed.

CATIA V5 General Packaging Principles

• A CATIA P1 product or a CATIA P1 configurationrequires or must include (in the case of configurations)CATIA — Object Manager 1 (CO1). P1 products can beused on P2 or P3, and in such cases, they operate withCATIA — Object Manager 2 (COM) or CATIA — ObjectManager 3 (CO3), respectively.

• A CATIA P2 product or a CATIA P2 configurationrequires, or must include (in the case ofconfigurations), CATIA — Object Manager 2 (COM). P2products can be used on P3, and in such cases, theyoperate with CATIA — Object Manager 3 (CO3).

• CATIA — COM 1 to 2 Extension (5693-C12) allows allP2 products to be added on to P1 configurations. TheC12 product effectively upgrades the P1 infrastructure(CO1) to the P2 infrastructure (COM). The C12 productdoes not change the underlying P1 configuration;included products remain P1. The C12 product can beused as a shareable (5691-C12) or add-on (5693-C12)product.

• A CATIA P3 product or a CATIA P3 configurationrequires or must include (in the case of configurations)CATIA — Object Manager 3 (CO3). P1, P2, and P3shareable and add-on products are available to P3configurations as shareable or add-on products.

• CATIA V5 add-on and shareable products require alicense for a configuration that includes at least the

prerequisite products. Licenses for CATIAconfigurations are acquired and released for the totalconfiguration.

• The functions within a configuration cannot be shared.

• A configuration is required for each CATIA V5 seat.

• CATIA — V4 Integration 2 (V4I) is included in all P2 andP3 configurations, and CATIA — V4 Integration 1 (V41)is included in all P1 configurations.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, andimplementation of security features, administrativeprocedures, and appropriate controls in applicationsystems and communication facilities.

License Charges

Types of Charges

• Annual License Charge (ALC)• Primary License Charge (PLC)• Yearly License Charge (YLC)

PLM Software Licensing: PLM software offerings arelicensed under the terms and conditions of the ICA (IBMCustomer Agreement) or the IICA (IBM InternationalCustomer Agreement) or equivalent agreement in effectbetween IBM and the customer. The customer must signone of these agreements as a prerequisite to processingthe purchase order for licensing a PLM software productoffering. The ICA, IICA, or equivalent is signed only onceby an IBM customer.

With a valid ICA/IICA and purchase order for this PLMproduct and while paying the PLC and applicablerecurring charge, the customer has:

• The right to use the license.

• Warranty support and use of program services asdescribed under Program Services in the Terms andConditions section.

• The right to receive enhancements and futurereleases, if any, of the same version at no additionalcost. Significant new functions may be offered as anoptional feature and charged for separately. If areplacement program is announced, and the customerelects to license the replacement program for aPLC/ALC and replace the prior program, an upgradecharge may apply. The upgrade charge will be lessthan the full PLC for the replacement version.

The first payment consists of the PLC and ALC. The ALCapplies yearly thereafter.

Program Upgrades: Program upgrade charges will applyfor upgrades from CATIA Solutions V4 on a “like-for-like”basis.

The product upgrade charge applies to orders for areplacement product when it replaces a predecessorproduct that was obtained for a PLC/recurring charge.The predecessor product is discontinued upon installationof the new version. For purposes of data model migrationand validation, a customer may continue to use thepredecessor product for up to three months without IBMapproval, but may not use both the new version product

and the predecessor product simultaneously forproductive purposes at any time. If both licenses areused simultaneously, the customer will be subject to thefull PLC and recurring charges that apply to thereplacement program, as well as the recurring chargesapplicable to the predecessor program. The three-monthparallel usage of the replacement and predecessorproduct may be extended to more than three months onan individual basis with prior IBM approval.

Current Licensees

Current licensees will receive this update from IBMSoftware Delivery and Fulfillment (SDF) automatically.

Shipment of this release of CATIA V5 is scheduled to becompleted by June 16, 2003; shipment of this release ofCATIA WLS V5 is scheduled to be completed byJuly 4, 2003.

New Licensees

Orders for new licenses will be accepted now. For newlicensees, shipment will begin on the planned availabilitydate.

5628-ACN SPO

CATIA V5 programs for all platforms (UNIX and MicrosoftWindows) are shipped under the 5628-ACN SPO. The SPOis required for all program shipments and future updates.

Initial orders placed for a program type 5691 without acorresponding order or MES for the 5628-ACN SPO willeither fail order validation, or will not generate a mediashipment. The SPO is designated to the processor onwhich the program type 5691 is licensed. Each customernumber must have its own SPO.

Initial Orders: When ordering the first 5691 configurationfor CATIA V5, an order must also be placed for the5628-ACN SPO. Both the 5691 program order and the SPOmust be for the same CPU system type/system numberand must have the same scheduled shipment date.

Subsequent Licenses: The SPO must have a featurenumber for every CATIA V5 configuration that is installedor on-order. Therefore, when a configuration that was notpreviously installed is ordered, the SPO must be updated.

To Update an On-Order System: When a license for a new5691 program is ordered for an on-order system, the5628-ACN SPO must be updated to reflect the featurenumber of the licensed program desired. Also, for assetregistration and billing purposes an order for theindividual licensed program type 5691 is required.

To Update an Installed System: When a license for a new5691 program is ordered for an installed system, the5628-ACN SPO must be updated to reflect the featurenumber of the licensed program desired.

The Licensing Mechanism

CATIA V5 Licensing on Workstations: In workstationenvironments, CATIA controls the number of concurrentusers of a CATIA configuration or product, according tothe number of licenses acquired for the configuration orproduct.

CATIA V5 delivers identical licensing mechanisms onUNIX and Windows environments, based on IBM LicenseUse Management (LUM). The following licensingprinciples apply:

• A CATIA V5 configuration (standard or custom) willrequire a license. Licenses for CATIA V5configurations are acquired and released for the totalconfiguration. The products within a configurationcannot be shared.

• CATIA V5 shareable products will require a license, inaddition to one for the prerequisite configuration andany prerequisite product, if applicable.

• In all cases, configuration licenses are acquired at thebeginning of the process and are released at itstermination.

• Shareable product licenses may be acquired at thebeginning of the process and released at itstermination, or upon user request, acquired andreleased during the process (ability to acquire andrelease licenses is not available for configurationlicenses). Shareable licenses acquired at thebeginning of the session cannot be released before theend of the session; only licenses dynamically grantedupon user request during the session can be releasedduring the session.

CATIA V5 can be used in two licensing modes, eithernodelock or with concurrent usage of licenses on anetwork.

Nodelock Usage: The use of local display of the hardwareconfiguration is mandatory for CATIA V5 usage innodelock mode. There is no limit to the number of CATIAV5 processes launched for a given license (configurationor product). For instance, a user can launch the followingsimultaneous processes:

• A V5 interactive session• A V5 process executed through an OLE container

application• Replay of macros recorded from captured sequences

of V5 user interactions

In nodelock mode of operation, only one CATIA licenseper configuration and product can be registered bymachine, and only one CATIA user can run at a time. Ifmultiple licenses per configuration or product, or multipleusers, are required, refer to the Concurrent Usagesection.

Concurrent Usage: A user on one machine on one displayuses one license per configuration or product used,regardless of the number of processes. If the displaychanges, then an additional license is taken for thecorresponding process.

CATIA add-on and shareable products require a licensefor a configuration which includes at least the prerequisiteproducts.

Licenses for CATIA configurations are acquired andreleased for the total configuration. The functions withina configuration cannot be shared.

Dynamic Licensing: Shareable product licenses may beacquired at the beginning of the session and released atits termination or, upon user request, acquired andreleased during the session. (The ability to acquire andrelease licenses is not available for configurationlicenses.) Shareable licenses acquired at the beginningof the session cannot be released before the end of thesession; only licenses dynamically granted upon userrequest during the session can be released during thesession.

Preventive Service is delivered through the next releaseof CATIA V5. The new release also includes correctionsto problems, depending on the time of their submissionand their severity.

Corrective Service for CATIA V5 and CATIA WLS V5releases is delivered through service packs on a regularbasis. A service pack includes corrections for Severity 1problems in production systems reported on this releaseand all corrections available for all components at thetime it is built. Service packs are provided at the sametime for all platforms currently supported. Each servicepack supersedes the previous one and may be installedon top of the released level or on top of a previousservice pack. No individual corrections will be deliveredbetween two service packs.

Customers may request a correction via a service packfor Severity 1 problems. A Severity 1 problem is definedas:

• A problem that stops production: The customer iscurrently using the level for which a fix is requested ina production environment.

• A problem that prevents migration: The customermust provide the migration plan.

• A problem that halts testing of a given level: A fix willallow customer to continue the testing.

• Installation problem: A problem that prevents thecustomer from installing or using the product.

• Regression: Problems reported as regressions maybe due to an operation that was being performederroneously or created incorrect data with a previousrelease and the current release no longer permitsthese operations. Therefore, each problem reportedas a regression must be evaluated. True regressionswill be handled as Severity 1 problems.

Requests for corrections to a given release of CATIA V5and CATIA WLS V5 may be made up to four months afterthe next release of CATIA V5 and CATIA WLS V5 becomesgenerally available. After that date, no new service packswill be built for that release. For the duration of theservice period of each release, the final service pack canbe ordered on CD-ROM via the Support Centers. (Thisservice period ends four months after the generalavailability of the second subsequent release of CATIAV5 and CATIA WLS V5.)

With the availability of this release, the end of correctiveservice date for CATIA V5.10 and CATIA WLS V5.10 willbe four months after the planned availability date of thisrelease; the EoS date for CATIA V5.9 and CATIA WLS V5.9will be four months after the general availability date ofthis release.
