PenetrationFor highly compacted, dense material, such as clay. It has betterpenetration, less wear material and is self sharpening.

Penetration AFMFor better penetration and better wear life. AFM increases wear lifein moderate-to-high impact conditions; self sharpening tip enhancespenetration.

SharpProvides the best penetration but the least wear material. Use onlywhen the need for more penetration overcomes the need for wearlife.

AbrasionAdded material for long service life. Use for extremely abrasiveconditions.

H.D. AbrasionThe most wear material available for long service life. Use on largermachines when working in extremely abrasive conditions suchas in sand, gravel and shot rock.

CATERPILLARADAPTERS

For Loaders (normally)

Flushmount AdapterAvailable for all Caterpillar Loaders, these adapters are welded to thetop of the base edge. This leaves a flut bucket bottom to provide asmooth surface for easy clean-up or where material being workedseriously affects tire life.

Bottom Strap AdapterThese adapters, available for all Caterpillar-built Loaders, are weldedto the base edge bottom. They offer the most aggressive angle ofpenetration of all Caterpillar adapters and are used for tough loadingapplications where a smooth working surface is not required. Theyprovide the best base edge protection.

Double Strap Adapter (Bolt-on)Available on backhoe Loaders and Cat 910 through 988 Loaders in atwo-bolt design. These adapters provide good edge protection ingeneral loading applications where a smooth working surface is notnecessary.

Double Strap Adapter (Weld-on)Available on larger Cat Loaders. Welded to the base edge on bothsides for strenght and impact resistance.

Double Strap Shouldered Adapter ( Weld-on )Available on larger Cat Loaders. For use when more wear material isdesired.

Corner AdaptersFor use with the Corner Guard System base edge on 910-988 sizemachines. The corner adapter fits over the corner and edge end boltsthrough a drilled hole in the bucket corner. It bears against a machinedpad on the corner's front surface to resist the high impact loads imposedon the corner.

For Excavators

Two Strap AdapterProvides best retention in high-impact work. For general excavating,where adapter retention is a bigger concern than tire or track chain life.They protect the base edge very well.
