| Driving Directions to The Benning Club |

From the I-185 entrance, travel south on Lindsay Creek Parkway/First Division Road until it becomes Dixie Road. Dixie will take you to Main Post, where you’ll turn right on Lumpkin Road and travel north to Morrison Avenue. Turn left and the club will be on your left.

From Benning Road, travel south onto Main Post via Sigerfoos Road. Turn right on Vibbert, then left on Ingersoll. At the three-way intersection of Ingersoll, Wold and Morrison, take Morrison left, and the Benning Club will be on your right.

From the Harmony Church entrance, take Eighth Division Road west until it joins First Division, then Dixie. From Dixie, turn right on Lumpkin, then left on Morrison, and you’ll find the club will be on your left.

Gate Entrances to Fort BenningFort Benning does not require a pass to come onto post. You will need to have a proper and valid ID to enter post through one of the Access Control Points.

Our services include menu planning, event site location, rental equipment, event staffing, linens and seeing to every last detail of your decoration.

HistoryThe Benning Club originally the Fort Benning Officers’ Club, was organized in 1919. In 1931, (then) Lt Col George C. Marshall headed the club’s Board of Governors and engaged a prominent New York architect to design a clubhouse, which was built in the Spanish Mission Revival style like much of the post’s early construction.

When the club was completed in June 1934, it was considered one of the most modern clubs in the Southeast, with an expansive gallery, separate lounges for men and women, a barber and a beauty shop, billiard room, gymnasium, kitchen and grill, guest quarters on the mezzanine level, servants’ quarters onsite for round-the-clock service, a paging system and an in-house telephone system so guests could order from the grill anywhere in the club.

The club was often referred to as “Dowdall’s Tavern,” a reference to Capt. Harry G. Dowdall, who served as secretary and treasurer of the Board of Governors during the construction period. Dowdall was said to be a very colorful character and known as the man who enlisted in the Army 35 times as a private. It seems Dowdall was serving on recruiting duty in 1920, when the Adjutant General sent him undercover to study recruiting practices around the Army. Impersonating a candidate, Dowdall enlisted 35 times in four months.

The club’s first pool and formal gardens were added in 1937, and the Supper Club was added in 1960. The Officers’ Club was featured briefly in The Green Berets, a movie starring John Wayne filmed at Fort Benning in 1967. The “O Club” is now the Benning Club and open to the public for dining and special events.

| Layouts|Room Fees and Food and Beverage MinimumsAll rooms have a room fee and a minimum dollar amount that must be spent on food and non-alcoholic beverages. Room fees will be waived when the room minimum is met. The room minimum is based on purchasing food and beverage equal to or exceeding four times the room fee.

| important information |Deposits and Payment ScheduleA $200 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required to confirm your booking. For any official function paid with Government Purchase Card the deposit will equal one day’s room fee. This amount will be applied to your final bill. Should you book a function as a tentative hold without a deposit, we will hold the room for 48 hours after which time the catering office may sell the space required. The room and/or time frame will not be confirmed until a contract is signed and deposit paid.

There is an 18% service charge on all catering contracts. We do not charge tax. The final guaranteed head count and payment is due five working days prior to your event. Should your function fall on a weekend, the balance is due the Friday prior.

LiabilityHosts are liable for loss or damage of facility property. The Benning Club is not responsible for any loss or damage of merchandise or articles left or sent to the facility prior, during or following an event.

Disruptive EnvironmentIf an event becomes disruptive we will first ask the host to mediate the cause. If that course of action is not effective management reserves the right to end the event at no cost to the facility.

Facility UsageEach event is booked in their own room. Please advise your guests of the best entrance to use when arriving so that other events are not disturbed. There are several parking lots available for event use.

Chef AttendantsWhen hosting an event at the Benning Club our menu items are skillfully prepared for you by our trained team of culinarians. Each buffet is staffed with an attendant during the time of food service. Also, if you have purchased a menu item requiring an attendant they will be there for the duration of your event.

TablewareWe use only real china for all of our booked events but, on occasion plastic ware is requested or required. We assess a charge of 5% of your total food bill if disposable tableware is used. The charge covers disposable plates, cups, utensils, and napkins.

Delivery FeeWe charge an additional $75 to $150 delivery fee based on your location.

Pick-Up ServiceOur menu items can be picked up for events you wish to hold privately. Pick-up contracts are charged the standard 18% of the total food bill. This charge includes disposable pans and serving utensils for your menu items. Please note that alcohol is not available for pick-up service.

Contact InformationWe require the full name, address, home and office telephone numbers of the host. Also, we require the name of the group or organization which the event is being booked. This allows us a point of contact for any questions which may arise.

Guests GuaranteesEach section of the catering menu has a listed minimum for each service style. A minimum guest count is required at time of booking. A final guest count is required five business days prior to the event.

Room UsageLunch Functions, 3-hour block.Dinner Functions, 4-hour block.Meeting Space, 4-hour block.In the event your function exceeds these time frames, $100/hour will be assessed

Rooms are assigned according to the guaranteed number of guests. If there is a fluctuation in this number, the Benning Club reserves the right to reassign the function to another room. We reserve the right to move your event to a different location than previously requested.

Function Set-upUpon meeting with our catering professionals we ask you to provide them the following information: time, date and set-up of your event. Any special set-up or diagrams will be required five business days prior to your event. If there are no special instructions provided, our staff will set the room in a standard fashion to accommodate your guests.

DecoratingWe encourage you to decorate for your event, but there are some prohibited items, including glitter, confetti, rice, and permanent adhesives. If prohibited items are used, $200 will be assessed.

Audio Visual EquipmentWe have several podium and microphones available at no additional cost. Please ensure these items are reflected on your contract. The use of our Bose sound system, projectors and projection screens are assessed at $75.

Beverage ServiceWe will require a time frame and type of service needed at time of booking. Alcohol must be purchased from the Benning Club and controlled by our staff. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Any alcohol purchased must be consumed on the premises. A minimum of $200 in sales is required. If the minimum is not met, the difference between the minimum and actual sales will be charged to the host. Please refer to the Bar Menu for specific service options.

Dinner ServiceWe take great pride in delivering each event quality and freshly prepared selections. Unfortunately, if leftover food is not consumed at your event Army Regulations do not permit you to take the food home.

Outside food, with the exception of specialty cakes, are prohibited. A cake set-up fee of $40 will be assessed for specialty cakes. The fee covers the table, linens, china, and the cutting of the cake. If you are hosting a casual event then you are more than welcome to bring plastic ware, napkins, and disposable plates to use while serving your cake. The cake table fee will not be charged if you choose to do so.

If a served meal is chosen with multiple entrees please be aware that some type of marker must be used to identify who has chosen which entrée; example red name tag for beef and blue name tag for chicken. The counts for each type of entrée chosen must be turned in with the final guest count.
