PREFACE Adoption of Small Track Machines for tliffercnt track main-

teuance activities has become inescapable with in~roi luct ion of heavier track structure, long welded rails and ncw track technologies. Quality considerations and changing work elhos have added to the need for use o f s~ l l a l l track tnacliines. For the purpose of development, standartlisation & adoption of s ~ n a l l track machines on 111dia1i Railway Systcm. a Standing C o m ~ i ~ i t t e e was co~ist i tuted by the Railway Hoard. I t was also decided that K.D.S 0. shall coordinate for developme~i t of small track niachines and mooitor their adop t io~ i and performance. Uptill now 35 types of s ~ n a l l track machines a s well a s their approved manufacturitlg sources have heeai developed.

I11 order to co~i lp i le the inforniation rcpartling tlie machines developed so far. i t was decided to bring out a catalogue o n the S~i la l l Track Machines. The approved l i r~ i l s of S~i ia l l Track Machines were requested to furnish pritlted literature regarding tlicir approved pro- ducts. The leaf-lets received from ~iiajori ty of [lie firms have been

. compiled in this catalogue. A list of s~ i i a l l track machines developed alotigwith particulars of thc approved suppliers as on 1-3-97 has also been incorporated in this catalogue. Thc p u r p ~ ~ s e of h r i ~ i g i ~ i g out this catalogue is to disse~ii inate information upto fieltl units anil to help in better acceptance and adoption of the small track machines. The drive from engine to the drill bit is provided thro a worm reduction gear box. To and fro movement of drill bil is provided by a feed screw rotated by hand thro chain and sprocket. A slurdy fabricated clamping device has been provided for firm grip of different rail sections which ensures strainght hole centerally. Smaller length drill bits can be used on this machine as gear box with drill bit moves for-ward for drilling.

stressing and destressing operation in continuous welded rail, rail welds, repair of rail breakages, insulation joints etc. It avoids any tendency for the rail to bend or spring. is approved by Govl. of India, Ministry of Railways, (Railway

Board) vide their letter no. 88nrack-IIITTM12 (Vol. Ill) dated 31.

3.92. Itislight weightand non-infringingtypeofequipment. Ithas an advantage to use in both horizontally and vertically. The Sleeper Spacer is used horizontally to respace and square the concrete Sleepers. It can also be used forvertical mode to adjust the rubber pad resting between the rail and sleeper which get slipped during respacing process. The Sleeper Spacer can also be used in wooden sleepersafter removing the tappered saddle and back plate from it. It is a compact unit in which the main components like Ram 8 Cylinder, Pump, Oil Tank and Release

Key are mounted on a Base Plate. It has easy portability. Being light weight it can be transported on bicycle or by kept it on shoulder to operation site. One man can operate it. It is suitable for rugged use in the field. It has features of high efficiency. low labour intensity, safety and reliability in uses.

OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE As seen in site, unloading of concrete sleepers for B.G. TRACK I and unloading of concrete sleeper turnouts from BFR and BRH have been done by manual labour and this resulted in damaging of sleepers, hair cracks being developed which if inserted into the track unobserved became one of the reasons of hazard. To over come this. HYDRAULIC JACK (NON-INFRINGING TYPE)

VANKOS Hydraulic Railway Track Jack is a

non-infringing, light weight and powerful track jack

and it is specially designed, developed and manu-

factured by us for the maintenance of BG & MG

concrete sleeper tracks and also for NG tracks of

Indian Railways. It is approved by Govt. of India.

Ministry of Railways, (Railway Board) vide their

letter No. 88iTrack-llliTW2 (Vol. Ill) dated 19.7.91 and renewal letter No. 92iTrack-IIIfTMI6, Vol. I

dated 17.11.93. It ismadeof high tensilealloysteel,

has simple mechanism and requires minimum dis-

placement of tiallast for setting in position foropera-

tion. Extensively tried byzonal railways it has proved

that VANKOS Hydraulic Railway Track Jack is the mostefficientequipment in the handsof Permanent

Way Engineers.

VANKOS Hydraulic Railway Track Jack is an integral type jack in which pump is integrated with

Hydraulic unit. In this type main components like Ram & Cylinder, Hydraulic Pump, Oil Tanks and

Release Key are mounted on a Base Plate. This type has the advantage of compactness and sim-

plicity. Carrying handle is provided with it so that the

equipment may be carried by one gangmanlopera-

tor conveniently to operation site. One man can

operate the equipment.
