Reliable operating mechanismb Switchgear status indicator: Fitted directly to the drive shaft, these give a defi nite indication of the contact’s position. (appendix A of standard IEC 62271-102).b Operating lever: This is designed with an anti-refl ex device that stops any attempt to re-open the device immediately after closing the switch or the earthing disconnector.b Locking device: Between one and three padlocks enable the following to be locked:v access to the switching shaft of the switch or the circuit breakerv access to the switching shaft of the earthing disconnectorv operating of the opening release push-button.

Simple and effortless switchingMechanical and electrical controls are side by side on the front fascia, on a panel including the schematic diagram indicating the device’s status (closed, open, earthed):b Closed: the drive shaft is operated via a quick acting mechanism, independent of the operator. No energy is stored in the switch, apart from when switching operations are taking place.For combined switch fuses, the opening mechanism is armed at the same time as the contacts are closed.b Opening: the switch is opened using the same quick acting mechanism, operated in the opposite direction.For a combined switch fuses unit, opening is controlled by: v a push-buttonv a fault.b Earthing: a specifi c control shaft enables the opening or closing of the earthing contacts. Insensitivity to the environmentb An internal sealed enclosure, contains the active parts of the LBSkit (switch, earthing disconnector). It is fi lled with SF6 in accordance with the defi nitions in IEC recommendation 62271-200 for “sealed pressure systems”. Installation Guides

The Installation Guides have been written for “Panel Builders” who have to design, realize, inspect and maintain own functions with LBSkit in compliance with international standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

The Installation Guides are single documents covering the assembly of LBSkit and related components and recommendations. They are intended for Panel Builders who want to develop their own functions, then a range using LBSkit.

An international standard such as the IEC 62271-200 “A.C. metal-enclosed switchgear and controlgear for rated voltage above 1 kV and up to including 52 kV” specifi es extensively the rules to comply with to ensure safety and predicted operational characteristics for all types of electrical applications. As the standard must be extensive and has to be applicable to all types of products and technical solutions in use worldwide, the text of the IEC rules is complex, and not presented in a ready-to-use order. The standard can not therefore be considered as a working handbook, but only as a reference document.

Electrical equipment should be designed, realized and used only by qualifi ed persons, and “Installation Guides” should not be viewed as suffi cient instructions for those who are not qualifi ed to design, realize, use or maintain the components discussed. Although reasonable care has been taken to provide accurate and authoritative information in these documents, no reponsibility is assumed by Schneider Electric for any consequences arising from the use of that material.
