Laying instruction

The joint connections can be supplied both in execu tion with thermoformed socket by

gluing.

The ring jointing (sliding connection) is generally adopted to compensate automaticallythe foreseen dilatations on the conduit, cause of t emperature changes, and is

characterized by the use of an elastomeric gasket, of such a section that permits a

guaranteed capacity by two subsequent dams, (so of a non toroidal section) with

differentiated pressures exerted on the generatrix of the introduced trunk of pipe. Therecent forming technicals of the receiving socket, consent to realize very narrow

tolerances and give rise to ideal conditions for un iform stresses on the circumference of

the pipe.Such solutions have allowed to realize jointings wit h an unexceptionable functional

behaviour with a perfect sealing on the most diffic ult conditions of work. On an erecting

yard, the right execution of a ring system jointing foreees the following operations:- scrupulous cleaning of the part that will receive the gasket;

- application of a slippage lubricant to facilitate the introduction of the gasket;

- introduction of the gasket in the current positio n;

- introduction of the end part of the pipe after a n accurate cleaning.The gluing jointing (rigid connection) is particularly suitable for th e mechanized

execution of the underground fixed installations. T he security of the jointing is

guaranteed in this case from characteristics of the mixture used as glue to give a realchemical sealing between the contacting surfaces. F or the execution of a good gluing it is

necessary to follow the work stages as:

-inspections of the chamfering on the pipe and to i nsert on the socket;-cleaning with thin emery-paper drenched with deter gent (methylene chloride) on the

surfaces to glue;

-smearing of the end part of the pipe and the insid e of the socket, with glue for Rigid PVC

(Tangit type);-immediate introduction of the pipe inside the sock et, without rotating movement, kee

ping everything still, for a few seconds;

-timely cleaning (at once) of the exceeding glue wi th the emery-paper.After the drying process time of 24 hours the connec tion can be submitted to a testing-

maximum pressure of 15 Kg/cm2, for a maximum pressure work of 10 Kg/cm2, 8 hours

time of drying process are enough.

Product Description

DESCRIPTION -Precision moulded pressure pipe fittings and flanges made fromPVC-UH suitable for PVC pipe systems up to 16 bar. Ourcomprehensive range of items and sizes can be joined eitherby cold solvent cementing or through threading.

All fittings are suitable for potable water, beverges, and foodcontact, as well as corrosive* fluid transports.

STANDARDS -Products conform to the requirments of ISO 264, 727, 2536,3460, KIWA Criteria Std. Nr. 54 and DIN 8063, 19532, UNI EN1452-3, AFNOR 54-029 and 54-028.

MATERIALS -PVC-UH unplasticized poly (vinyl chloride) meeting the abovementioned Standards.

Injection-moulded components: PVC-UH.Metal reinforced rings: on the female threads INOX AISI 430.Gaskets and O-Rings: EPDM.

FLANGES -PLASSON backing flanges are to be used in connection withthe flange adaptors (catalogue no. 5500, 5510, and 5520). Thenumber, sizes and distance between the centre of the holesconform to UNI 2223, EN 1452-3, ISO 2536 and DIN 8063 forpressure classes of 10-16 Bar.

Symbols & Definitions Valves

PN - Nominal Pressure in Bar - Allowable operating pressureconveying water at 20OC during 50 years.

PFA - Allowable Operating Pressure - Maximum hydrostaticpressure that a component is capable of withstandingcontinuously in service (EN 805:1999); for water at temperaturesup to 25OC: PFA=PN.

PMA - Allowable Maximum Operating Pressure - Maximumpressure occurring from time to time, including surge, that acomponent is capable of withstanding in service (EN 805:1999).

PEA - Allowable Site Test Pressure - Maximum hydrostaticpressure that a newly installed component is capable ofwithstanding for a relatively short duration, in order to ensurethe integrity and tightness of the pipeline (EN 805:1999).

MRS : Minimum Required Strength

PVC-U : Unplasticized Poly (vinyl chloride)

PVC-UH : Unplasticized Poly (vinyl chloride) material for injection-moulded components, such as PLASSON fittings and valves,with a proved MRS-value of at least 25Mpa.

Instructions for connection to the system -A) Completely unscrew the ring nuts (12) and fit them to thepipe that the valve is to be connected to.B) Either glue or screw couplings (10) at the pipe ends.C) Position the valve boby (5) between the two couplings.D) Lock the ring nuts for both sides.

Instructions for disassembly and reassembly -Completely unscrew the ring nuts (12).Remove the valve body (5) radially.Remove the handle (1) by pulling upwards.Insert the key in its seat in the gasket support (8).Completely unscrew the gasket support (8) by rotating thehandle counter clockwise .Remove O-Rings (6*, 9*, 11*) from gasket support (8) and PTFEgasket (7*) using a suitable tool in order to prevent damage.Remove the ball (4) which was previously positioned during theclosing phase.Remove the stem (3) by pushing downwards and extracting itfrom inside the valve body.Remove the O-Ring (2*) from the stem (3) using a suitable tool.Remove the O-Ring (9*) and the PTFE gasket (7*) using asuitable tool.To assemble the valve, follow the same procedure in the oppositesequence.

Notes -The valve shall be supplied with a pre-set radial seal, applicableto average operating conditions; due to particular operatingconditions, it might be necessary to follow the instructions belowbefore performing the final step D:1. Disconnected the handle (1) by pulling upwards.2. Insert the key in its seat in the gasket support (8).3. Turn clockwise or counter clockwise to adjust as required.

O-Rings and gaskets which are numbered 2, 6, 7, 9 and 11 are packagedtogether in a set of O-Rings for valves (see Page 23).
