A Letter from the Director
Friday, August 2 - at 1:00 PM
This month features Don Cygan, a Parker history teacher who served the U.S. Army in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. Don has a passion for World War II and recently published his first book, No Silent Night - The Christmas Battle for Bastogne, which he will discuss at our August meeting. All are invited.

Not much to say this month and no suggestions in the Suggestion
Box to talk about, so I thought I would share my favorite quote
and a short story with you. I hope you have a wonderful August!
Before being famous, Peyton was the Army Chief of Staff in WW I. He
re-organized it to include the Air Corps, which later became the USAF.

The Starfish Story
A young girl was walking along a beach upon which
thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible
storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up,
and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with
amusement. She had been doing this for some time when

The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few
moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and
hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked
up at the man and replied, òáèó
The old man looked at the girl inquisitively and thought about
what she had done and said. Inspired, he joined the little girl in
throwing starfish back into the sea. Soon others joined, and all the
starfish were saved.

going to be holding more Saturday night dances. Tom Yook is definitely a favorite of our dancers, as he plays a variety of instruments and great dance
music that got everyone up on the dance floor.

When you go on a CRSC trip, you never
know what will happen!!?? Flexibility is
key when we get out in our state.
Thanks to driver Gene - and
Terry and Debbi who came
to the rescue and drove the
smaller buses up the
mountain, white knuckles
for all!! It was worth it, as
we were away from the fires
with spectacular views!!
