May / June 2017 Dear Residents, Families, and Friends, I can’t believe that May is here and summer is sneaking up on us. I look forward to the warm sunny weather, colorful flowers sprout- ing from the flowerbeds , and enjoying the clean crisp nightly air from the open window. I love this time of year! May brings us special days to celebrate. On Saturday, May 20th, Pacifica will be hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch for all our ladies, Families, and Friends. This is a special time to share with your family to make some un- forgettable memories. You definitely won’t want to miss this incredible event. In honor of National nurse’s week Thank you to Irma Luna our Resident care Director. A special mention of Irma Langston our Resi- dent Services Director. Your dedication, commitment and passion are appreciated. We are continuing to move forward in our quest to bring you great changes in your life here at Pacifica. Cherish your dreams for they are gifts from your soul and blueprints to your future. Just a little reminder: Doctor’s appointments are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays and are set on a first come basis; this also applies to our es- cort. Please understand if we cannot sched- ule a specific time. Best practice is to call and speak with the receptionist prior to scheduling to see what time slots are availa- ble. A Note from Irma Langston Hi, I thought I’d share some information with you on one possible cause of an illness that you may have experi-enced in April. I’m ready for May Flowers! How about You… Viral gastroenteritis Viral gastroenteritis ( viral infection of the stomach and the small intestine. Symp-toms are (abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea) They typically only last 48 –72 hours. The virus can occur in a spo-radic form (in a single indi-vidual ) or epidemic form (among groups of individu-als) The virus is believed to be spread by person to per-son contact. It is very important to stay hydrated during episodes of nausea, vomiting or diar-rhea. Take frequent sips of fluids such as water, pedio-lyte or gatoraide and avoid milk. Be sure to report all ep-isode to the nurse or a staff member so we can monitor and care for you.

Karen Horelly Karen was born in Michigan. She graduated from Mayfield High School in Cleveland Ohio. She met her husband Ray at a party her girlfriend took her to. The girlfriend was Ray’s sis-ter. She was a stay at home wife and her husband Ray was a LA city fire captain. She has traveled most of the United States, Europe, Panama Canal, Hawaii, and Costa Rica. Her hobbies included traveling in her RV, reading, theatre, and collecting angels, teddy bears, candlesticks, postcards and perfume bottles. In her leisure time she likes to watch TV and Live theatre. Her favorite movies are Gone with the Wind and Cleopatra. Her favorite food is dessert especially Pie. Her fa-vorite color is purple. She has a granddaughter Serenity. She feels her best accomplishment is being a good wife! Karen is a classy lady. When she goes by you can smell her perfume and notice her beautiful clothes and jewelry! Were very glad you are here with us.
