Issue

Temaikén Foundation had two principal areas: Operations Management, responsible for park cuisine; and Promotion and Dissemination Management, responsible for revenue generation. Both areas handled data using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, but operating hours were lost when issuing reports.A new Business Intelligence tool has been implemented due to the need of enlightening the information analysis process.

Planning

The Foundation was looking to implement a BI solution in order to integrate business information, ensure its accessibility and restrict vendor dependence.

In order to achieve these goals and overcome the registered constraints, the organization evaluated different Business Intelligence applications.

Implementation

The fiscal year of Temaikén Foundation begins in April and the main goal was that the information analysis helps the decision-making for the following year.The strategy was to allure internal partners to support the project since the scope of investment was about USD 30,000 and should be approved by the General Management.

However, in this case, two prototypes were designed in QlikView because the possibility of new arising problems have to be reduced:

1. Cuisine: involves the administration of food stores and area.

2. Promotion and Dissemination: considers park revenue.

The final step was to submit for approval the applications to the General Manager.

Why QlikView?

After contacting various vendors available in the market and QlikView, Temaikén asked them for suggestions based on similar requirements to achieve tool performance evaluation, agility and functionality. Following the presentation of QlikView in Temaikén offices -installing the tool in a local laptop and performing a demo with data analysis of the company in real time- the organization decided to take the plunge and finally choose the solution provided by BlueDraft.
