THE MELBOURNE CONVENTION CENTRE IS INTERNALLY LINKED TO THE MELBOURNE EXHIBITION CENTRE IN THE NEWLY DEVELOPED SOUTH WHARF PRECINCT.

THIS EXCITING NEW COMPLEX SHOWCASES PIONEERING TECHNOLOGY TO SUIT THE WORLD CLASS ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN.

The MCCD project consists of audio visual systems within the plenary (1, 2 & 3), grand banquet room, 32 meeting rooms, foyer and reception spaces and other associated control and server rooms.

The plenary is the centrepiece of the centre. It can be configured into three separate spaces or as one large theatre accommodating 5000+ seats. The biggest challenges were the sheer size of the room and the requirement for a full HD platform to be designed and installed. The equipment selection was based upon high quality cutting-edge technology, ensuring longevity and minimising equipment redundancy in the future.

Six LED Walls are mounted within the foyer and plenary. The foyer system expands on the signage with the addition of dual rear projection LCD screens above the reception counter, and four LED walls located around the main foyer. A dedicated fibre optic link was then patched between the fibre interfaces and each LED display wall within the foyer.

Rutledge AV is proud to be associated with the MCEC. This project allowed us to pioneer new standards for world class audio visual convention centre systems. This project has been recognised by a commendation at the 2009 National NECA Awards and won the 2010 inaugural AV Industry Award (AVIA).
