Bentofix® NSP 4300 Geosynthetic clay liner was used successfully as a landfill cap in this project for the Southland Health Board. During the Demolition of the old Kew Hospital block, the rubble was taken to an on-site landfill for disposal.
Cirtex offered Bentofix® NSP 4300 as an alternative to the original cover design which called for a compacted clay cover.
The advantages for the client and the contractor were faster installation of the landfill cap, lower overall cost and a sealing layer which can achieve a permeability of 2 x 10-11 m/s.
