Transcript of Case Study - Charity 1 - Energy Costs
Case Study – Addict Support Organisation
Charity Sector
Presented by: Chris Wheeler
Date: December 2014
Before
• Client spending £40K pa on Electricity and Gas – mainly for heating and lighting in accommodation and office facilities.
• Finance Team had carried out a cost-reduction exercise on their energy supplies relatively recently, so expectations were low.
• Multi-site, multi meter set up, so managing supplies (contract negotiation + inevitable issues such as invoice errors and meter faults) was time consuming.
• Client agreed to a free audit.
Audit and Cost Management Results
• Most energy prices not excessive, but above best market rates, so savings were achievable…
Ongoing Annual Savings - £7,000 (17.5%)
• Client quickly realised the benefit of having energy supplies managed for them….
Initially simple aids such as a cross-reference chart summarising details for each meter and improved communications with suppliers.
After
• Ongoing management of contracts to ensure competitive prices achieved.
• Provision of:
Management reports to help with annual forecasting.
Correction of supplier errors, the most significant being an overcharge of £6K which had gone un-noticed due to a change of personnel at a critical time.
Conclusion
• A happy client… Quote – “As well as cost savings, Auditel provide the added value of keeping track of all our meters and monitoring consumption, this really helps us to control energy costs."
