IPU Starting Case Study Fichcon Shirag Hydraulic Start Packages Fichcon Shirag APPLICATION: Azeri Offshore Platform LOCATION: Caspian Sea ENGINE: CAT 3508 SOLUTION: This company asked for a Hydraulic Starting System for their off shore station, designed for primary starting of a CAT 3508 engine. The company required a large system, to provide four starts in total for 3 separate applications. Two accumulators to power emergency fire pumps, one for a standard generator set and a final accumulator to start the main compressor system. This application installation was less than straight forward. IPU were commissioned for a particular Hydraulic Starting System, however, once the application was sent, the company realised there was not nearly enough space for it. Therefore the application had to be altered and modified to fit new specifications. The Hydraulic accumulators had to be positioned horizontally, under a walk way, to be incorporated into the off shore platform successfully. The company chose IPU because: Required experts in Hydraulic Start Systems. Fully equipped to deal with changing circumstances and environments. Understood the importance of working to specific BP approved standards. Could provide the support and after care needed for such a complex application build, alongside all necessary supporting documentation, certification and approvals needed for offshore environments.
