Learning Goals What you should know /understand/be able to do. Broad, general statements, learning directions.

Learning Objectives They define how the goals will be achieved, what specific things you have to do. They are concrete, measurable. and tied to specific assignments, knowledge, skills, and behaviours you need to demonstrate in the assignments.

Formative Assignments They are not graded, but are designed to scaffold summative assignment . Their purpose is to monitor your progress and give you feedback so that you can improve learning. They indicate to your tutor where you are struggling and what you need the help with.

Use them in your monthly progress discussions.

Your formative assignments = Reflective Journal entries.

Summative Assignments They are obligatory and graded. Their purpose is to evaluate /assess your learning.

Tasks you are required to do:

The goals of this assignment are that you:

● Develop an understanding of how classroom and workplace connect (KNOWLEDGE)

● Apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting to identify and solve problems (SKILLS)

● Demonstrate inquiring attitude, and ability to seek and identify valid information on your own (SKILLS, ATTITUDE, LIFELONG LEARNING)

Therefore, your objectives will be to:

● Devise and apply conceptual framework for a given project by building on the ICM curriculum and other expert sources, and evaluate the framework.

● ICM Competencies: Analysing, Researching, Developing and Designing, Implementing, Evaluating

→ Devise and explain application of the conceptual framework to the assignment’s problem (C1c, C4c).

→ Evaluate the effectiveness of the framework by discussing its outcomes, benefits and drawbacks, and provide advice for improvements (C3c, C6c, C7c).

→ Identify and discuss one media/marketing/communication issue or trend by using academic sources (C1c, C2c).

The assessment are the same for both case studies.

● Your educational background must be evident in your work placement practice. To demonstrate that you are able to apply knowledge in new situation, you will select two projects showcased in your Portfolio – one from the Progress Portfolio and one for the Final Portfolio – and explain how you built a conceptual framework to guide you through carrying out these projects, and how effective or successful it was.

● In addition, you will discuss what communication /media/ marketing issue you came across in these two projects and how you dealt with it.

● Write around 2500 - 3000 words maximum for each case study and follow the steps outlined here.
