About the Artist........................................................................................

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, Lea has always been captivated by one form of art or another. Although her

childhood inspiration was painting, a lifelong love affair with glass art started as a teenager when she traveled to Murano,

Italy, famous for its reknowned glassblowers. Not long after college she started making stained glass projects during lunch

breaks at a desk job that paid the bills but left her unfulfilled. Before long she was asked to teach a stained glass class and soon

after had the opportunity to take a glassblowing class. She was hooked.

While teaching stained glass at the University of California at Davis Craft Center, Lea enrolled in a hot glass weekend workshop

and became transfixed with the medium. She had found her calling. Lea traveled to the East Coast to receive instruction at the

Corning Museum of Glass and apprentice in two prestigious glassblowing studios. Returning to the West Coast, she devoted

herself to mastering hot glass through classes, assisting, and spending endless hours in the studio learning and experimenting.

She started a small glass art business and began selling her work.

It has been Lea’s lifelong dream to make a living as an artist. As a teenager, a bone tumor in her spine taught her a lesson that

has defined her as an artist – life is too short not to pursue that which you were born to do.

About the Work.......................................................................................

Lea has been inspired by many art forms since early childhood, but it was the magic of hot glass that changed her life and

became her true calling. For the last several years she has focused on mastering the technical aspects of glass artistry, developing

a proficiency in multiple techniques that serves as the perfect compliment to her uncompromising artistic vision.

Lea utilizes hot glass sculpture, traditional Venetian glassblowing, and kilnworking techniques in creating works of art that

surprise, delight and inspire. Her passion for the medium shines in her careful attention to detail and a perfect balance of the

technical and the artistic that informs all of her work.

Lea has studied under Italian glassblowing masters Elio Quarisa, and Davide Salvadore in addition to receiving instruction at

Scuola del Vetro, Abate Zanetti, in Murano, Italy, Red Deer College in Canada, and Haystack in Deer Isle, Maine.

Her work can be found in galleries and private collections nationwide.Career Highlights........................................................................................
