CASE STUDY Law Enforcement Rapidly Deployable SWAT Communications & Public Address The Houston PD SWAT team conducts many operations in neighborhoods and apartment complexes. When dealing with barricaded subjects, hostage situations and armed suspects, Houston SWAT’s first priority is to quickly notify and evacuate occupants of adjacent homes and apartments before commencing operations. Their second priority is to protect SWAT officers by communicating to suspects inside buildings and vehicles from safe, standoff distances. The LRAD 100X is the leading portable Acoustic Hailing Device (AHD) for on-scene and tactical communications. In addition to being 20 - 30 decibels louder than bullhorns and vehicle PA systems, the LRAD 100X is up to 6X louder and much more intelligible than other hailing devices of comparable size and weight. Live or recorded LRAD 100X broadcasts are clearly heard above wind, engine and crowd noise to ensure every message is understood. “The first piece of equipment we train with is the LRAD.
