Materials 

1 skein Cascade 128: 100% Peruvian Highland Wool, 128 yds/117m, 100g; Color 9454 

Size 9 US /5.5mm needles or size needed to obtain gauge 

Cable Needle 

Gauge 

20 ½ stitches and 19 rows in 4 inches/10cm in cable pattern Abbreviations 

c8f ‐ Slip 4 stitches onto cable needle and hold in front of the work.  K4, then k4 from cable needle. 

m1l ‐ Make one left. Insert left needle under the bar between the stitches from the front to the back.  

Knit into the back of the lifted bar. 

m1r‐ Make on right. Insert left needle under the bar between the stitches from the back to the front.  

Knit into the front of the lifted bar. 

pm ‐ Place marker. 

sm ‐ Slip marker  Pattern 

Cast on 36.  Join to work in the round 

Rounds 1‐9, 11‐23, 25‐27: p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2. 

Round 10, 24: p2, k2, p2, c8f, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, c8f, p2 k2. 

Begin Thumb Gusset 

Round 28: p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2, p1, pm, m1l, pm, p1, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2. 

Round 29: p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2, p1, sm, k1, sm, p1, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2. 

Round 30: p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2, p1, sm, m1l,  k1, m1r, sm p1, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2. (increase round) 

Round 31: p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2, p1, sm, k3, sm p1, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2.  

 

Repeat rounds 30 and 31, increasing 2 stitches between the markers on the increase rounds until there 9 

stitches between the markers. 

Round 38; p2, k2, p2, c8f, p2, k2, p1, place 9 thumb gusset stitches on a holder to work later, p1, k2, p2, 

c8f, p2, k2. 

Rounds 39‐46; p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k2 

Bind off in pattern. 

Thumb 

Slip the 9 thumb gusset stitches on 2 double point needles.  With a 3rd needle, pick up 3 stitches along 

inside of the thumb.  Work in the round for 4 rounds, then bind off.
