The existing standard reach booms may crack on cert ain 330C and 330D Excavators. The boom may develop cracks on the side , top, or bottom plates at the rear baffle or boom foot. If the crac ks are not repaired in a timely manner, the cracks may propaga te and cause further damage to the boom.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES

No parts needed for this program

Repair the cracked boom. Refer to Special Instructi on, REHS4595, "Procedures for the Repair of Cracks in Reach Booms " for the correct repair procedures for the type of crack. The specia l instruction details six different repair procedures, depending on the type of crack. When claiming for repairs, refer to the Service Cla im Allowances table for the correct claim allowances for the type of repair performed. The actual repair performed should be de tailed in the claim story in the format that is shown in the exam ple below. Example: This is a claim story for a Type A and Typ e D crack repair with boom reinforcement. Completed Special Instruction, REHS4595, to repair cracks in the boom. Claiming per the service letter guidelines for the following repairs: R&I – 26 hours Transportation of boom - $800 Repair for a type A crack – 20 hours and $2300 misc Repair for a type D crack – 16 hours and $1800 misc Installed Reinforcing Plates – 12 hours labor and $ 1300 misc Total Repair = Labor Hours = 74 hours Misc. = $5400 Transportation = $800

NOTE: The initial 26 hours is allowed for removal a nd installation of boom. NOTE: When applicable, up to $800 U.S. Dollars in t ransportation cost for the boom will be allowed. NOTE: For a Type A repair, an additional 20 hours a nd $2,300 U.S. Dollars for material will be allowed. NOTE: For a Type B repair, an additional 23 hours a nd $2,300 U.S. Dollars for material will be allowed. NOTE: For a Type C repair, an additional 13 hours a nd $1,800 U.S. Dollars for material will be allowed. NOTE: For a Type D repair, an additional 16 hours a nd $1,800 U.S. Dollars for material will be allowed. NOTE: For a Type E repair, an additional 19 hours a nd $3,200 U.S. Dollars for material will be allowed. NOTE: For a Type F repair, an additional 22 hours a nd $3,200 U.S. Dollars for material will be allowed. NOTE: If the optional reinforcement plates are inst alled, an additional 12 hours and $1,300 U.S. Dollars for mat erial will be allowed.
