showing your status in society. Wealthy people, such as the Socs, had nice cars. Poor people had worse cars (or no cars).

Cars throughout history…Introduction
• In early times, the common form of transportation was the horse-drawn carriage.
Cars throughout history…The first cars
• The first cars were extremely expensive, as they were often put together entirely by hand.
• Only the wealthiest people could afford to buy one of these cars. As a result, wealthy people had nice cars.
Cars throughout history…The Model T
• The first mass-produced car was the Model T. It was first created in 1908.
• The price for these cars was less than the original cars, yet still expensive.
Cars throughout history…After the “T”
• After the Model T came many new styles of cars.
Cars throughout history…New models
• Next came more advanced models.
• Nice cars went to wealthy people, and poor cars went to poorer people.
Cars today• Today there are many
models and styles of cars in existence.
• Though more people have them, they still show societal status. For example, it costs a lot to buy a limousine, so only wealthy people tend to have them.
Cars throughout history…Conclusion
