worked as a biology teacher before she became an actress.
She had a successful career on television working in soap
operas
In 1983 she took photos for Playboy.
In 1985 she directed her first film, but her first success as a
director was "Carlota Joaquina" (1994).

Shot in a period of crisis in Brazilian cinema, whenFernando Collor abolished in 1990 Embrafilme, an agencyof the federal government to sponsor the production ofBrazilian films.
The production was made with a modest budget, giventhe difficulty in getting sponsors.

Portugal, later crowned king;

In 1805 Carlota Joaquina plotted a conspiracy
against her husband, in order to depose him and
take herself over as regent of Portugal.
Suspected of involvement in the death of D.John VI, who was killed by poisoning.

appointed regent of Brazil.
