The Carl Duisberg Training Centers in Berlin, Cologne, Munich, and Radolfzell offer German courses at the six levels of the CEFR – from A1 to C2. The language skills that participants acquire in our courses are measurable and are based on recognized international standards.

Before the start of each course, we conduct a placement test and a personal interview to deter-mine your language level. You will then be placed in a course that is appropriate for your level.

TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

The course system at Carl Duisberg Centren is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Accurate place-ment of students according to their language level and regular monitoring of students’ progress are standard features of our German courses. Consistent high quality, intensive training, and a systematic approach are the key factors for our students’ success.

BERLINThe Carl Duisberg Training Center Berlin is

located in the city’s “Mitte” district, right in the heart of the capital, in a quiet, inner courtyard so typical for Berlin. We are within walking distance of landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate, the Gendarmenmarkt and the Reichstag building. The lively street Friedrichstrasse is perfect for leisurely strolls, and the Hanns Eisler School of Music and Humboldt University are just around the corner.

The Carl Duisberg Training Center is close to public transport and is easily and quickly acces-sible from all parts of the city. The school has 20 classrooms, a language lab, a small Internet café, and a recreation room, which is a popular meet-ing place for our language course participants.

COLOGNEThe Carl Duisberg Training Center Cologne

is centrally located on the edge of the city center. We are just a short walk away from the Rhine, the Cologne Cathedral, the picturesque historic district, and the pedestrian zone for shopping. We are close to public transport, with subway and commuter rail stations within walking distance.

Our language school in Cologne has 17 class-rooms, most of them air-conditioned, and a lan-guage lab. The cafeteria has vending machines with hot and cold drinks as well as snacks, and there are two microwaves for student use. Our training center kitchen staff serves a warm lunch Monday through Thursday. Fresh coff ee is always

available, and students can prepare tea anytime. There is a university cafeteria nearby, as well as numerous inexpensive cafés and restaurants.

MUNICHThe Carl Duisberg Training Center Munich is

located near the city center and is easily reached by public transport. Our residence and the lan-guage school are located in the same building complex. In the direct vicinity, you will fi nd the Olympic Park and the spectacular Olympic Sta-dium. Munich University, the Schwabing student district, and the English Garden are also nearby.

Our training center has 21 classrooms, a lan-guage lab and a student lounge. We have vending machines providing drinks and snacks as well as a cafeteria serving small meals and drinks in the mornings for our international students.

RADOLFZELLThe Carl Duisberg Training Center Radolfzell

is located next to a beautiful park, the “Stadtgar-ten”, with a view of the old town. With a popu-lation of only around 30,000, this small town is particularly suitable for young language course participants and anyone looking to learn in a cozy, small-town environment where practically everything is within walking distance.

The training center is also located near the lake and close to Switzerland, Austria, and the Black Forest. There are numerous excursion destina-tions and leisure activities available nearby in the

breathtaking natural surroundings. Our language school has nine classrooms, a small cafeteria, a language lab, and a party room.

Four Carl Duisberg Course Locations

Our four training centers are in four completely diff erent parts of Germany, each of which refl ects the unique character of its region: Berlin, Cologne, Munich, and Radolfzell on Lake Constance. Each location has its own special charm and advantages.

Course participants in long-term courses can choose to spend the entire course in one city or change to another center after a minimum period of four weeks at each location so that they can experience the full range of what Germany has to off er.

TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

GERMAN INTENSIVE COURSE

Our German Intensive Course provides you with the necessary skills for your profession, further education, or private life. In our short-term courses, starting at a duration of one week, you acquire basic knowledge of German or develop your existing language skills in a targeted manner. Our long-term courses are aimed at prospective university students or those preparing for a profes-sional qualification in Germany. In these courses, students can systematically build up the necessary German language skills to meet their specific needs and reach the required language level in a reasonably short period of time.

In addition to intensive group courses, we also offer workshops on a range of topics. These give you the opportunity to practice language skills, gain a deeper knowledge of grammar, expand your vocabulary, and learn more about current topics relating to culture and society. For each course level, there is at least one workshop appro-priate for that level offered each week.

In our language lab at the center and in our online resources, the material learned in class will be reviewed. To help you learn, you will have access to a wide range of materials online and offline. For the duration of your course, you will have unrestricted access to our digital language lab, where you can improve your German skills 24/7 from anywhere with internet access.

Our varied and fun leisure program supplements the learning in the classroom.

The minimum age for the Intensive Course is 16, in Radolfzell 15. Participants with prior German language skills may begin a German course on any given Monday. Please refer to the table below for the start dates of beginner courses and a list of public holidays as well as dates when the center may be closed during the winter break. There are no classes on holidays and during the winter break. These classes will not be rescheduled.

GERMAN CRASH COURSEOur Crash Course combines group lessons with one-to-one lessons so that you benefit from both learning environments: the diversity of group communication and the focus on individual needs. You may choose either 5 or 10 TU of one-to-one training (general language or specialized language).

GERMAN ONE-TO-ONE COURSEIn One-to-one Courses (min. 4 TU, general or spe-cialized language), we are best able to focus on your individual learning goals that we determined prior to course begin in your needs analysis. Upon request, we can also integrate specific materials into lessons (e.g. documents drawn from your daily work).

GERMAN EXAMSDuring your course at Carl Duisberg Centren, you can take internationally recognized German examinations, such as telc Deutsch, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule and TestDaF. We also offer targeted preparation for these and other exams.

ACCOMMODATION AND ADDITIONAL SERVICES

In addition to first-rate German courses, Carl Duis-berg Centren can, if you wish, provide you with a range of carefully selected accommodations. Options include a private room with a host family or in a shared apartment, individual apartments, residences, or hotels.

All of our Carl Duisberg Training Centers can be easily reached by public transport.

PRIVATE ACCOMMODATIONParticipants live with German host families (indi-viduals/couples, with or without children) or in shared accommodation. Amenities include a fully furnished single room, often with television and Internet access. The bathroom and kitchen are shared. If several students are living together, we arrange accommodation so that course partici-pants do not all speak the same native language. Students who wish to stay with a host family may choose to include breakfast or half board (breakfast and dinner).

RESIDENCESOur residences have a uniquely international atmosphere. Students stay in simple, functional single or twin rooms and share a bathroom (shower/toilet) and kitchen with other residents.

Our residence in Munich is on the premises. In Berlin we book single rooms in various residence buildings. All of our residences, including in Radolfzell, are conveniently located close to public transport.

APARTMENTSWe offer fully furnished apartments for those seeking more privacy and independence. Our apartments include a living room, kitchen, and bathroom which are all for your exclusive use

Your secondary school degree from your country qualifies you for admission to a German institution of higher education. You can apply as soon as you can demonstrate the required language level.
