CARING THE LEAST OF MANKIND (CLM) TRUST, RANIPET 3 rd Annual Report for the year April, 2009 – March, 2010 INTRODUCTION: The vision and mission of CLM are as follows:- VISION: Transformed individuals reflecting the likeness of God resulting in Transformed Communities that care for children and treat the predisposed (susceptible) with dignity. MISSION: Committed as servants of one another to build self-sustaining communities in association with faith based organisation through individual transformation and empowerment with emphasis on strengthening existing infrastructure. PROGRAMMES: With above principles and concern in our mind, CLM at the first instance initiated the following five programmes to nurture hope and belief to have a purpose and meaning of life by inculcating humanitarian principles and values. (i) FAMILY BASED CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT (FBCD): We have identified the following 7 children whose parents have a low daily income and extend financial assistance to provide School Fees, Books & Note Books, Special Fees, Uniform, School Bags and other study materials for their education in schools in order to encourage them in their studies and personality stature. INTRODUCTION: The vision and mission of CLM are as follows:-

life by inculcating humanitarian principles and values.

(i) FAMILY BASED CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT (FBCD):

We have identified the following 7 children whose parents have a low daily income and

extend financial assistance to provide School Fees, Books & Note Books, Special Fees,

Uniform, School Bags and other study materials for their education in schools in order to

encourage them in their studies and personality stature.

Their parents are uneducated and are working as workers on daily wages in shoe factories

and industries in SIPCOT zone, in Ranipet. They could not pay personal attention to their

children in wholistic development. Therefore this programme started to function every

day, Monday to Friday from 6 pm to 8 pm to attend to the children on the following two

counts:

1. To enhance their standard of education by providing systematic tuition in all their

subjects taught in their school by qualified staff.

2. To cater to the needs of their personality development.

Mrs. D. Getciyal, Social Worker continues to be in charge of the 2 centre’s providing them

spiritual nurture to build their character development. The following 5 volunteers

bestowed their personal care and attention by taking regular classes every day based on

the syllabus in all their subjects taught in their school to back up their standard of learning

capacity.

During the period under this report, the children by virtue of the special tuition obtained

ranks 1 to 3 in their respective classes and improved very much in areas of discipline and

behaviour.

(iii) LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT (LSD):

The special emphasis of this programme is to develop the school dropout children to

pursue a job oriented technical course for a year or two years duration to develop their

skills to have better life and character.

During the year (April, 2009 – March, 2010), under this report, the following candidates

were benefited to pursue the courses as mentioned below:

CLM support was extended partly to the following youth to pursue higher technical

education in the discipline noted against each during April, 2009 – March, 2010.

During the period above the level of education in their respective discipline was reported

to be of high quality and there was a good change in their personality development.

v) DAY CARE CENTRE (DCC):

CLM started the Bethel Day Care Centre on 14.06.2009 in rented building at R.S. Nagar,

Gudiyatham, Vellore District. Beedi and Match Box Cottage industries workers are

residing. There were 25 children of under 5 whose parents are working in cottage

industries with very meager wages.

The children were very active in learning the basic education through play way method,

singing, story telling with action. Special emphasis laid on their spiritual nurture for

personality development as this the age we could inculcate good behaviour and character.

IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES IN THE YEAR APRIL, 2009 – MARCH, 2010

1. On 22.04.2009 A thanks giving and valedictory function was held at CBCD

Avarakkarai center at 6 pm. All the children along with some of their parents

attended. Many children narrated their blessing they had in the education and

discipline because of their enrolment in the CLM Tuition centers.

2. Our Auditor Mr. P. Rajavel Moses, Chennai visited our CLM Central office on

01.05.2009 and verified the Trust Financial Statement and Account Books

pertaining to the year April, 2008 – March, 2009.

3. Conducted VBS for the children in CBCD Avarakkarai from 02.05.2009 to

11.05.2009 for 10 days. The valedictory function was held in the evening of

11.5.2009 with various cultural programmes which exposed their inborn talents.

The Managing Trustee Dr. R. Chandrasekhar participated in the programme with

the words of appreciation and encouragement. He also distributed gifts to all

children and prizes to the winner of the competition.

4. On 26.05.2009 The Managing Trustee Dr. R. Chandrasekhar along with

Mr. C. Davis Nirmalan, Manager (Admin & Finance) and other staffs visited

Gudiyatham for the survey on the establishment of Day Care Centre with the help

of INDIENHILFE, Bangalore.

5. On 06.06.2009 A children and Youth Retreat was held at the CLM office. 48 children

and youth participated. Mr. Noble Raj, CEF Vellore led the entire programme with

songs, Bible stories through chart pictures and Puppet show. He had also

conducted a quiz programme by play way method which helped to improve general

knowledge. It was useful for our children and youth.

6. On 12.06.2009 survey was carried out by Mr. Amos Ebenezer, Project Manager and

Mr. C. Davis Nirmalan, Manager (Admin & Finance) for the establishment of CBCD

Nehru Nagar, Karai, Ranipet with 24 children.

7. On 13.06.2009 The Managing Trustee Dr. R. Chandrasekhar along with staff

participated in church Workers fellowship meet held at Ponnai village of Vellore

District and counseled them on their role in the social and educational

responsibility among poor illiterate rural people for their individual and family

development. They were also of the social activities being carried out by the CLM.

50 Independent Pastors from Ponnai areas in Tamil Nadu and Chittoor Distrct of

Andhra Pradesh region attended the meeting. It was conducted by Pastor

Augustine. They were very happy with their fellowship and their involvement in the

social activities.

8. On 14.06.2009 The Managing Trustee along with office staff attended the inaugural

function of Bethel Day Care Centre at Gudiyatham sponsored by CLM with the aid

of INDIENHILFE, Bangalore. Pastor Johnson Premkumar, Bethel Pentecostal

Church, Gudiyatham chaired the function. Mrs. Beulah Johnson is the Honorary

Staff – in – charge of the DCC. 25 children are on the roll and a Teacher, Cook and

a Helper has been appointed to look after the centre. It is now running in a rented

building. Many important persons politicians, social activists, Educationalist

attended the function.

9. The Central office staff visited the BDCC again on 27.06.2009 to guide the staff for

the effective functioning of the centre.

10. On 06.07.2009 A study center under CBCD Programme was started in the CEF

Church, Nehru Nagar, Karai, Ranipet. Pastor N.M. Daniel has fully cooperated and

helped us to establish this center. Two volunteers Ms. M. Kavitha and

Ms. D. Roseline Margret looked after the center with the General supervision of

Mrs. Getciyal. The local people are very much appreciative of the center and

welcomed it.

11. On 14.07.2009 Mr. P. Rajavel Moses, Charted Accountant visited CLM registered

office and checked our accounts and records.

12. On 14.07.2009 Mr. Noble Raj of CEF (Promotional Staff) Vellore District along with

our Manager (Admin & Finance) Mr. C. Davis Nirmalan visited the CBCD Nehru

Nagar. Mr. Noble Raj led the entire programme with prayers and spiritual

entertainment through moral stories, songs and choruses, Puppet shows. The

children enjoyed the programme and were blessed.

13. On 10.07.2009 The Manager (Admin & Finance) Mr. C. Davis Nirmalan and Project

Manager Mr. Amos Ebenezer accompanied Mr. Nitin Joseph visited CBCD centers

Avarakkarai and Nehru Nagar and had first hand information about the functioning

of these centre’s. He was much impressed with the project and complemented the

work done by the MPW and Volunteers. Mr. Nitin Joseph in his short address

stated that these centers benefited the children by giving them an unique

opportunity to develop themselves holistically for a better future.

14. The 62nd Independence Day Celebrations was held at CBCD Nehru Nagar on

22.08.2009. The children from Avarakkarai and Nehru Nagar centre’s participated in

the celebration. From 3 pm – 4:30 pm, Ms. Gladina Jebakani shared the word of

God through Biblical stories, songs, and skits. The children enjoyed the

programme. She will be taking such classes as and when she finds time. This was

follwed by a special programme “Patti Manram” from 5:30 pm onwards. The

programme was very interesting and the children of Avarakkari and Nehru Nagar

were active in the “Patti Manram” they exposed their inborn talents. The children

of Nehru Nagar centre were the winners in the competitions held. The programme

was also very useful for the children and it inculcated in them a sense of

Nationalism and Democracy. Dr (Mrs). Suguna Chandrasekhar spoke on the

importance of life of children for the development of themselves, the family, the

community and the Nation on the whole. The programme came to an end with the

closing prayer by our Manager (Admin & Finance) Mr. C. Davis Nirmalan.

The Day Care children also celebrated 62nd Independence Day at Bethel Day Care

Centre, Gudiyatham along with local panchayaths and some political leaders as

guests. Sweets and Coffee were distributed to Day Care children and guests.

15. On 28.09.2009 The 2 Managers Mr. Amos Ebenezer & Mr. C. Davis Nirmalan have

visited CBCD Centre’s at Nehru Nagar and Avarakkarai. The children presented

their personal testimony.

16. On 01.11.2009 A one day Retreat was conducted for the blessing of the children of

CBCD Avarakkarai & Nehru Nagar. The programme led by Mr. Noble Raj, CEF,

Vellore with songs, stories, skits and Puppet shows. The retreat came to close with

the prayer of Dr. R. Chandrasekhar, Director.

17. On 17.12.2009 A thorough Medical Check up was carried out for 25 DCC

children at Bethel Day Care Centre, Gudiyatham.

18. On 19.12.2009 2nd Anniversary of CLM Trust was celebrated and

shared the word of God. Offered Prayers for the work of CLM Trust.

19. On 20.12.2009 Project Manager Mr. Amos Ebenezer participated in a social function

organised by a local village church at Vannivedu and distributed clothes to the

poor as Christmas gift’s and shared the word of God on love and peace.

20. On 22.12.2009 Christmas was celebrated in the Ponnai Area Pastor’s Fellowship

and presented gifts to the Pastor’s with a message of peace and love.

21. On 23.12.2009 Christmas was celebrated in Bethel Day Care Centre, Gudiyatham.

CLM central office staff were also participated. Important local VIP’s and Deputy

Mayor of Vellore Corporation has kindly graced the occasion. They were very

much impressed on DCC work. Christmas gifts and food were served for the DCC

children and staff.

22. On 24.12.2009 Christmas was celebrated in the premises of CLM Central office,

Ranipet. The children and volunteers of CBCD Avarakkarai and Nehru Nagar, YTP

and LSD children participated in the celebration. Children’s cultural programme

was very impressive and was appreciated by every one.

Rev. Sampath Sadanandam, Rev. Karunagara Sanjeevidoss, of CSI St. Mary’s

Church, Ranipet and Pastor M. Isaac Raj, ICA Bethel Church, Zion Nagar, Ranipet

were specially invited as chief guests. Our neighbours were also present for the

programme. Mr. Noble Raj, CEF, Vellore shared the word of God with skits, Puppet

show. Christmas gifts and food were given for all programme children.

23. On 24.01.2010 A staff meeting was held at 4 pm at the CLM central office, Ranipet.

The meeting started with prayer by Mr. C. Davis Nirmalan, Manager (Admin &

Finance) emphasized the need of total involvement of the staff in the work. The

Managing Trustee Dr. R. Chandrasekhar shared about the importance of the

volunteers role in the CBCD programme and the future plan of action for the work

in the complete involvement of the parents in our programme.

Mr. D. Amos Ebenezer, Project Manager took the devotion on Luke 19:12 – 26. After

the closing prayer by Dr (Mrs) Suguna Chandrasekhar the staff expressed

commitment for the development of the children in the programmes realising their

total responsibilities and complete involvement.

24. A one day children Retreat jointly by CLM and CEF, Vellore was organised on the

Republic Day of 26.01.2010 at the CSI St. Mary’s Church, Ranipet for their Sunday

School children and teachers. The entire programme was sponsored by

CSI St. Mary’s Church. The Pastorate Committee members, Youth and church

congregational members helped in organizing this retreat. More than 200 children

and 50 teachers attended the retreat. CLM staff & Volunteers Mrs. Getciyal, Ms.

Kavitha, Ms. Roseline Margret participated.

25. On 05.02.2010, 2 Manager’s visited the CBCD Avarakkarai and Nehru Nagar

centre’s. The tutor’s and Multi Purpose Worker were present. The progress of the

programme in the children’s education and the spiritual development were very

impressive.

26. On 21.02.2010 CLM arranged Parent’s Meeting at CBCD Avarakkarai and Nehru

Nagar Centre’s. 20 parents from Avarakkarai and 23 parents from Nehru Nagar

attended this meeting. The parents expressed their frank opinion and all of them

was very happy with the activities of the centre. They expressed their fullest

cooperation and support in the days to come.

27. On 27.02.2010 One day children/youth retreat was held at CLM central office from

9 am – 1:30 pm. The entire programme was planned and conducted by CEF,

Vellore. Participants were thrilled by the Puppet shows, story telling with action

songs and skits.

LAND AND BUILDINGS

No Lands and buildings were purchased during the year 2009 – 2010. The CLM Trust

registered office function in the same rented building. The CBCD, Avarakkarai is

functioning in rent-free building provided by the women’s Self Help Group of Navlock

Panchayat. The CBCD Nehru Nagar, Karai, Ranipet is functioning in the church premises

which was kindly provided freely by the Pastor N. M. Daniel, CEF Church, Nehru Nagar,

Karai, Ranipet. The Bethel Day Care Centre, Gudiyatham is also functioning in rented

building. Ms. J. Mercy Rani Bai our EC member has kindly gifted a piece of land for the use

of CLM Trust at Maniambut.

FINANCE AND ACCOUNTS

Mr. C. Davis Nirmalan., B.Com., M.C.A., M.Phil., Manager (Admin & Finance) was in charge

of the Accounts Department during the year April, 2009 – March, 2010. The business of the

CLM Trust was transacted during April, 2009 – March, 2010 in the following two Banks.

1. Canara Bank, Ranipet branch to receive foreign contributions in accordance with

the provison of the foreign contribution (Regulations) Act (Resolution No. 3/2007)

A/C No. SB 20899.

2. State Bank of India, Ranipet Branch to receive local contributions in accordance

with the clause of Trust. (Resolution No. 4/2007) A/C 30351258458

The account of the CLM Trust was audited by Mr. Rodriguez & Co, Chennai & Mr. Rajavel

Moses, Madurai who are Charted Accountants. They have issued the audit report on the

accounts for the year April, 2009 – March, 2010. The copy of the Audit Report, Balance

Sheet, the Receipts and Payments Statement and the Income and Expenditure Statement

are given to this report.

MEETINGS OF THE TRUST

Meetings of the Executive Committee were held in the Registered Office of CLM Trust,

#82/33, Zion Nagar, Ranipet on 04.05.2009. 16.11.2009 and 17.02.2010 and passed

resolutions for the proper functioning of the Trust. The following Trustees were present in

the these meetings.

CONCLUSION

We are grateful to God for all His grace, guidance, protection and help through out the

years 2009 – 2010 with out which the activities of the Trust would not have developed to

this extent.

As a result of the excellent performance of our 5 programmes many fresh proposals for

starting new projects have been coming up from some partner agencies. And they will be

commenced, during 2010 – 2011 on a planned manner. We are grateful to our sponsors,

Donors and Friends who have supported our work with their fervent prayers and gracious

patronage.

We record our gratitude and gratefulness to the following who have extended their help

generously to carry on our works.

We are thankful to the Friends of India (Norway), The Mansion Trust - UK,

INDIENHILFE - Bangalore and some individual sponsors and donors in India and friends

abroad who are helping us greatly to carry on our work.
