SATuRDAy Fly out of the snow and into the sun, as we excitedly make our way non-stop from toronto to Princess Juliana Airport on the Dutch side of St Maarten. A short 30 min taxi ride from the airport gets us to the Yacht base at one of the most newest and prestigious marinas in the Caribbean, the Sunsail Base at Oyster Pond, where your yacht awaits you. Upon arriving you will have an opportunity to check out your boat before all the luggage and provisions are brought aboard. tAKe oFF your watch, you are now on island time, leaving the cold and the snow far behind. tonight we dine onshore!!

SuNDAy We set sail for St Bart’s a charming very French island with a photogenic anchorage, home of exquisite French cuisine and great restaurants. this beautiful area is a secure, quiet and scenic place to drop the anchor, where we can dinghy ashore and explore the town of gustavia. At night we dine onshore at one of the many restaurants.

MONDAy After breakfast, we hoist anchor and head to Marigot, St. Martin, to see some lush, fantastic scenery. Here we go ashore for dinner to sample the local cuisine, then we stroll through the town to buy trinkets and assorted souvenirs at one of the many shops. At night, we dine in a restaurant overlooking Marigot Bay where we can watch the sun set and if we are lucky, see the “green Flash”.

TuESDAyHoist anchor again and sail away for Road Town the capital of the British island of Anguilla, with a beautiful sandy beach. We anchor close to shore or pick up a mooring ball then dinghy into the dock and go exploring the beach front for a restaurant. there are many boutiques here along the road where we can go shopping. We will dine roy’s Bayside grill, where they specialize in local cuisine, fresh fish, lobster and traditional island cuisine, and they have a beautiful outdoor patio.

WEDNESDAy Up anchor and set the sails for the island of Prickly Pear to the north of Anguilla. We drop anchor or pick up a mooring ball on the south side of the island and dinghy through the gap to a beautiful sandy beach on the north side which is protected by a long shallow reef. this is where we can relax on the beach and soak up some rays plus grab a bite to eat at the Prickly Pear restaurant & Bar. We can’t stay here overnight, so its back to road town where we anchor for the night.

THuRSDAyAfter breakfast on board, we sail for Anse Marcel on St Martin. You will love this place. it has a secluded marina and is part of the radisson resort complex with a great beach bar that makes it a must stop for sailors. the anchorage is well protected on all 4 sides and has a great marina. Since we will dock at the marina, we have access to the radisson resort and can snorkel or just lie on the beach where we can watch another beautiful sunset and reminisce about our adventures, as we kick back and relax in true Caribbean style. At night, we dine at the radisson which is a mere quarter of a mile away, where we can dine at one of the numerous restaurants available or simply barbeque on-board.

FRIDAy As we head back to base to Oyster Pond, we will stop off at the island of Tintamare for lunch after a lazy morning because the base is not that far away. We can swim or snorkel again or just relax on this neat little island which is a turtle refuge. At this point you will find yourself wholly content at your achievements of big boat sailing experience and new skills, and warm memories of the friends and great times you have encountered throughout your Caribbean adventure. We will go ashore in the evening to reminisce about our adventures and highlights. You will no doubt be unwilling to leave this paradise, but don’t worry there is always next February and another new sailing escapade to look forward to somewhere in the Caribbean.

BASE FACILITIESour Yachts’ base at Oyster Pond in St Martin is just a half hour ride from the airport. From here there are a range of bareboats between 35ft and 52ft. the marina is in Oyster Pond, in a well protected lagoon and an easy taxi ride to get our provisions. Oyster Pond boasts all the facilities you could wish for: Captain oliver’s restaurant and Bar, a sheltered harbour and plenty of palm trees, plus the usual Dinghy Dock bar for happy hour.

LOCAL INTERESTYou will find superb snorkeling and diving throughout the islands of St Martin, Anguilla, St Kitt’s and St Bart’s. Wherever you go there’s an abundance of coloured coral, fish, squid, eels, lobster, rays and turtles. You will often see turtles, and at certain times of the year you may be accompanied by dolphins and even whales while you are out on the water. third Party Scuba diving is as popular here as it is throughout the Caribbean and is easy to arrange locally.

FOOD & DRINk (PROvISIONINg)in St Martin at the Marina in Oyster Pond we jump in a cab and go to the nearest Shopping Complex which has numerous stores where you can get whatever you want. We can also dinghy across the lagoon to the Dutch side at a small store where we can always get that item we forgot to get at the supermarket. on the course and mileage builder boats, provisioning will be conducted upon arrival on Saturday, this is an extra cost, and is entirely dependent on what you choose to eat and drink. generally, everyone shares equally and takes turn to cook on the course and mileage builder weeks.

RESTAuRANTSYou will find excellent local cuisine throughout the islands. Seafood includes fresh local crab, lobster and lambi (conch), a large shellfish served from a barbecue or cooked in a delicious spicy sauce. there is the usual Dinghy Dock Bar with a small restaurant which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most Bistros and Bars have happy-hour from 1700 to 1900, which can be dangerous if you have to get up early the next day.

MANAgINg ExPECTATIONSWeather: As we are sailing, weather can be a factor, of which we cannot control, although we will always do our very best to ensure sunshine and sangria! Also if heavy weather is experienced this can sometimes effect the itinerary.

Socializing: As we are on a boat and often in close quarters, be mindful of your fellow crew members.

CuRRENCy & LANguAgEthe eUro is the currency that is accepted in St Martin and St Bart’s and surrounding islands and major credit cards are accepted in many, but not all establishments. USD is accepted on Anguilla and Saint Maarten and St Kitt’s. there are also a number of banks/AtM's on St Martin/Saint Maarten. French is the spoken language on the French islands, but english is spoken everywhere.

ExTENDINg yOuR TIMEPeople often like to extend their Caribbean experience with some on land vacation time, either arriving days earlier or leaving days later. We recommend you do this, as once you get down there you always wish you had more time!

WHAT TO BRINgtry and pack light as there isn't lots of room for luggage on-board. A small carry-on case is ideal. Other essential items include: As you will all be aware, any liquid items must be max. 100ml, and if you are taking a carry-on they must be placed in a clear plastic bag. We will be on island time, so casual dress is the norm, if we go on shore for dinner, casual dress is acceptable.
