A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support

Facts about Carers
One in ten people in England & Wales are Carers.That is a total of 5.8 million carers. This has grown by 600,000 since 2001.Authorities with higher percentages of their population who are ‘limited a lot’ in daily activities also have higher levels of unpaid care provided.

The economic value of the contribution made by carers in the UK is a remarkable £119 billion per year.This is equivalent to-
- £2.3 billion per week- £326 million per day- £13.6 million per hour- £18,473 for every carer in the UK.
NHS spending in 2012/13= £105.254bn (Valuing Carers 2011)

Some Pharmacies/Chemists have staff who can advise you on different aspects of your health and websites such as

have useful advice regarding looking after yourself in the summer months (as well as general advice for all year health)
Please also ensure you have the relevant vaccinations you may require for travel abroad and any tablets or health precautions you may need to take. Your GP or Practice Nurse can advise you accordingly.
