These courses prepare students for entry level positions in human services and addiction recovery agencies, and help with career advancement for returning students already working in the f ield.

The Addiction Studies Program at LBCC is a part of the Social Sciences Department, and is accredited by the California Association for Alcohol/ Drug Educators (CAADE). Students can obtain a Certif icate of Achievement, and an Associate Degree which will fulf ill the academic and work experience requirements for CAADE, and meets the qualif ications for other certifying organizations, as well. Holding the LBCC’s Addiction Studies certif ication and Associate Degree will add to the employability of the individuals, as the addition treatment and recovery f iled is looking for educated and skilled counselors. The students will be prepared to take the state certif ication examination upon completing this program.

In the Human Services program, students learn the skills and knowledge needed to work with foster youth, the homeless, veterans, as well becoming Addiction Treatment Counselors working with the population of those with drug use disorders. Graduates can turn their passion for helping others into well-paying careers while changing peoples’ lives in a positive way.
