• After the fabric and styles are picked prototypes are made. The designer than has to narrow down the garments that will be used in the final line.

• The computer is increasing becoming handy in this industry because you get to see everything in different colors and shapes in a faster paper saving way.

Skills and knowledge required:

• The individuals who usually get jobs are the ones with a 2- year or a 4– year degree, are knowledgeable about textiles, fabrics, ornamentation and trends. A good idea to get experience in this field would be to get an internship with design or manufacturing firm. One can also advance by entering amateur contest.

Reaction to my shadowing experience:

• I had fun at my shadowing experience. The most important thing I learned is that no matter haw many people you have contributing to your business you never have enough money. So my friends and i are going to start saving now. I would do this experience again in a heartbeat. I shadowed Laury. She was one of the owners of Sonoma Café in Hauppauge. WE learned about the rules and regulations and how to advertise for business. It has been one of the most important experiences in my life thus far.
