OBSERVATIONS: Students who attended the Orientation Sessions had the highest rating reported on the

targeted learning outcomes.

Students who viewed the online Orientation PowerPoint had the second highest rating reported

on targeted learning outcomes.

Students who did not view any orientation material scored lowest on targeted learning

outcomes.

There were no significant differences in the three categories of students in how well-prepared

they felt for the interview itself.

There was a more positive perception of Career Center Staff and service among students who

viewed the orientation materials or attended the orientation sessions as compared to those

who did not.

Page 30: Career Center On-Campus Interviewing Program Orientation … · 2013. 2. 5. · 2011 2011-2012 2012-2013 % Number of Companies Recruiting Fall 159 137 57 86 120 123 +2.5% Winter 123

OBSERVATIONS:

Materials were effective for those students who viewed them.

Only 50% of students who were surveyed completed the orientation process in any

form (online or workshops) despite it being stated as required in all related

materials.

Less than 25% of students surveyed attended the OCI Orientation Workshops

Page 31: Career Center On-Campus Interviewing Program Orientation … · 2013. 2. 5. · 2011 2011-2012 2012-2013 % Number of Companies Recruiting Fall 159 137 57 86 120 123 +2.5% Winter 123

CONCLUSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS

Orientation Content is ok: Students who viewed the materials report high completion of the

targeted learning outcomes. No evidence says we need to revamp it at this time.

Market OCI Orientation Workshops more aggressively: Because the OCI Orientation

Workshops are effective in creating the desired learning outcomes of a) “Clear understanding of the

On-Campus Interview Process” b) “Able to schedule an On-Campus Interview, with ease, utilizing

Bronco Connection” and less than 25% of students attended the OCI Orientation Sessions among

students surveyed, consider marketing the workshops more aggressively.

Create greater sense of accountability for completing OCI Orientation Requirement:

Because the online orientation material is effective in creating the desired learning outcomes, but only

50% of students surveyed attended orientation workshops or viewed the material online, consider

establishing stronger points accountability in requiring completion of the OCI orientation process

prior to participating in an on-campus interview.

Page 32: Career Center On-Campus Interviewing Program Orientation … · 2013. 2. 5. · 2011 2011-2012 2012-2013 % Number of Companies Recruiting Fall 159 137 57 86 120 123 +2.5% Winter 123

CONCLUSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS

More Qualitative Assessment: Considering repeating assessment with a larger sample and collecting more qualitative information.

Cross Reference with Employer Surveys: Consider a cross-referenced study between student survey of student participation in Career Center interview preparation resources and employer evaluations of the interviewees.

Expand Workshop Access Online: Create YouTube version of Orientation Workshop for Career Center website.

Explore creating stronger tie-ins between OCI Orientation and other Career Center programs that prepare students for interviews. Utilizing OCI Orientation as the entry point of students with high interest in interview success, market Career Center interview success programs more visibly.
