Greenville Watershed Winter Bus Tour & conversation. There were many trees in this wilderness, and Linda quoted the “I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree...” verses. So, with apologies to Joyce Kilmer, we wrote our own version for this adventure, as follows:

I think that I shall be in shock, if I see another big wet rock.

We drove along the watershed, beside the babbling brook creek bed.

There seemed a million naked trees, but a very mild 64 degree breeze.

It’s too warm for the holiday season. We don’t know if there’s a good enough reason.

Outings were made for “fools like us,” but only God protects this old bus!

Travelling conversationalists: George, Linda, Marshall, Gary, Anna, Joe T., Weeta, Marilyn, Ava, Steve, and Ernest C.

What’s happening in February?

February 29 - March 4

February 15 - 19

February 8 - 12

February 22 - 26

February 1 - 5

Leap Year brings us an extra day, and we will surely need it! We got your groundhogs, your year of the Monkeys, your Valentines, your Mardi Gras beads, your presidents in history and your Super Bowl. View the activity calendar for these special dates.

We got the Punxsutawney Phil’s, the furry, the “fit as a fiddle,” the floats, the Millard Fillmore’s and the football! (Go Panthers!?)

Participant and US Navy Veteran Carolyn Johnson will have her artwork displayed at the Veteran’s Hospital art show starting Feb. 18. Some of us will take the bus to see it. So for our February flights of fancy, the month may still be short on days, but is guaranteed to be long on fun.

Ava wants the world to know “...that there are people out there that are different and just because they are different - be kind to each other. Just because they are different from you don’t make fun of them, either. We’re here to help each other out. Who knows? You might need somebody to help you out someday. I think each one of us can make a difference in somebody else’s life. You might save somebody’s life. You don’t know!”

Last summer Ava travelled to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. She said, “It was so pretty out there - so gorgeous. I saw a stingray!” When she arrived back home she toured

Hendersonville’s Team ECCO Ocean Center and Aquarium (where an iguana sat on her shoulder). She was thrilled to see a shark’s egg with the “pup” moving inside.

Many thanks to those of you who gifted our staff with holiday sweets & treats. The goodies came in almost every day and we gobbled them up as fast as they arrived!

A special thank you to Trader Joe’s for their ongoing, weekly donation of fresh flowers. Our participants design with the flowers - arranging them into the beautiful bouquets you see in our adult day program.

“We three kings of Orient areBearing gifts we traverse afar

Field and fountain, moor and mountainFollowing yonder star”

Our participants became actors when they dressed in ancient Hebrew costume

to reenact the story of the nativity.
