Preface

n line with the UTeM's strategic plan, establishment of a research centre of excellence (CoE) is one of the agenda with the aim to strengthen the research capability. By taking

account the national agenda which focusing on pertinent industrial needs and state of the art of knowledge development, two niche research areas have been identified by the faculty. The niche areas are sustainable energy and automotive. Hence, Centre for Advanced Research on Energy (CARe) is assigned with the responsibility to accommodate and support this idea. CARe has been established since 2011 with the vision to be the world leader for research development and innovation in the field of sustainable energy and automotive. In the year of 2013, CARe has secured research grants worth of RM 2 million which is the highest amount among research centres in UTeM. Our researchers have received numerous research and innovation awards such as in MTE, ITEX, PECIPTA, BioMalaysia and other international exhibitions and conferences. Among our main research collaborators from industry include PROTON and PERODUA. It's my great pleasure to introduce the first edition of CARe's researcher profiles booklet. The aim of this booklet is to provide some information about research activities under CARe management along with the researcher backgrounds. I would like to thank all of the contributors, in particular the researchers who are part of the CARe's team. With the release of this document, it is hope that further research collaboration can be developed locally and internationally.
