Dear Parents/Caregivers, Parent Opinion Survey If you received a Department of Education and Training Parent Opinion Survey, your assistance in completing and returning the survey has been greatly appreciated. The very last day for returning the survey is this Friday morning. School Tours Term 3 We are now taking enrolments for children who will be in Foundation in 2017. Please feel free to call in to the office to collect an enrolment pack. School tours are being conducted on Wednesday August 3rd, Wednesday August 17th, Wednesday August 31st and Wednesday September 14th at 10:00am. If these times don’t suit, please feel free to contact us to arrange a more suitable time for a tour. We look forward to meeting you! If you know of families that are new to Mount Clear, please share the dates. Triviathon Fundraiser Our annual School Triviathon is our major school fundraiser for this term. Today all students have received details of the event and also a Triviathon Sponsorship Form. Students will be given a class quiz during Week 8 and leading up to the quiz they collect sponsorship for the quiz. There are many prizes to be won with results and winners announced at assembly at the end of the term. See inside for more details. Car Parking/Parent Drop Off It is great to see so many of our families using the 2 minute drop off zones out the front of the school, however this often leads to congestion as parents wait on the service road for their time to pick up/drop off. Quite often there are many car parks available further down the service road. We are seeking your assistance to help keep the traffic flowing. If you can move down the service road to empty car spaces, the children can watch for you and move quickly to your car, thus alleviating the congestion. School Dress Code A reminder that we expect all of our students to be in school uniform at all times while at school and on excursions. As the weather has turned quite cold, appropriate school uniform should be worn for this weather. Students should be wearing their school jumpers/jackets to and from school as well as during the school day. Shoes should allow students to participate in all educational activities safely. Black school shoes or runners are appropriate in winter. We are very proud of our school and the reputation we have earned for excellence in education. The wearing of school uniform is one way we actively demonstrate our pride and our belonging. International Competitions and Assessments in Schools (ICAS) ICAS Digital Technologies results were presented at assembly on Friday. Our students are achieving outstanding results and as more results and certificates arrive we will continue to acknowledge student achievement at assembly and through the newsletter. We sincerely thank our parents for supporting this very valuable extra curricula opportunity for our students. Have a wonderful week everyone! CAMPS AND EXCURSIONS — Notes and Payments

It is very important that when families receive information about camps, excursions and events organised by the school, that parents/carers take special care to note the due dates for payments and notes to be returned.

Unfortunately we are unable to extend the due date for payment/notes for school activities as this makes planning very difficult for the staff organising the event.

Families who are experiencing financial difficulty are invited to meet with our Business Manager or the Principal to discuss plans for payments. If you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to contact Nicole or Fiona

at the office.

LUNCH ORDERS

Please note Mini Quiche’s have been added to our lunch order list at $1.60ea

It’s important to note that on Lunch Order Days you should only order what is on our School Council approved Lunch Order list. If you do not have a list, please contact the office and one will be sent home with your child. We have advised Stewarts Bakery to only supply items that are on the list. They may refund the money or supply a substitute. Thank you for your assistance

FRIDAY AUGUST 5th

Our Junior School Council will be holding a

Jeans for Genes Day on Friday 5th August.

Gold coin donation

This year you are able to wear as much denim as

possible!

NATIONAL TREE DAY Last week we all celebrated National Tree day through the planting of a mature tree per class. Harrison’s Funerals, via the Fifteen Trees Project, donated twenty trees, valued at $700. Luckily we were able to avoid any rainy weather and all classes helped to plant and clean up the grounds. Thank you to the Environmental team for their assistance and leadership! Cynthia Davidson Environmental Science
