ENROLEMENT FOR SESSION FOR 2017-2018

Week Commencing 13th Feb is enrolment week for 3/4yrs. We are happy to accept enrolments throughout the year but would advise you to enrol now to ensure your child’s space. Further information can be found on displayed posters and if you have any queries just ask a member of staff. JW also offer funded sessions for 2yr olds who meet the criteria.

POLICY REVIEW OF THE MONTH; Behaviour Policy

In order that the children are involved and participate in this policy review we are asking the children to contribute to the rules and guidelines for behaviour. In OSC staff are working alongside the children to complete a Mind Map to identify positive rules. ELC and Daycare will be involving the children in learning about Room Rules and these will be added to the policy.

A warm welcome to Sian Robertson. JW are hosting a student placement for Sian. She will

be working in Day Care on Wednesdays in order to help her learn more about the development,

planning and care required. Sian may take observations and photos (with faces masked) of

your children for her college portfolio, please sign permission form.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Reid our Modern Apprentice. She has completed her Foundation of Childhood Practice and is now

undergoing her SVQ. Elizabeth has already become a very valuable

member of JW team and never fails to brings smiles and happiness to the

centre.

FUNDRAISING

Following recent fundraising we have recently purchased a number of resources for Junior World. Re-chargeable torches for the OSC have already been a massive hit and have provided much entertainment both indoors and out. Day Care have enjoyed exploring a number of natural materials and also been developing their fine motor skills with our ‘wooden’ threading trees. In ELC there have been increased opportunities for the children to develop their fine motor skills with the purchase of a number of different sized tweezers and a large selection of small die cars. In the following weeks we will be developing a ‘wish list’ display for everyone to be involved in identifying other resources they feel would benefit the centre. Please feel free to offer your ideas !!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK

At the end of the year we asked you to complete a Have Your Say about ‘Sharing Information’. Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey, your feedback is valued

and will help keep us informed of development. Below are some of the responses we received along with update on how we plan to forward your suggestions.

SO NOW WHAT…………. We are ensuring that newsletters are being distributed monthly and staff team are sharing these with all parent/carers, these are also shared on the CALA BLOG. In order that we encourage more of you to access the Blog we will continue to produce power points on the children’s activities and learning, promoting further access and parent’s participation. All the staff actively develop wall displays and notice boards and we now need to ensure that we spent time sharing these with parent/carers. The ELC team held an open Parent’s Evening at the end of the year, this was well attended and the team received many positive comments. We will continue to arrange Open Parent’s Evenings throughout the year for all parent/carers to attend. This will be further opportunity for you to offer feedback for us to reflect on the service we provide.
