Coding and Billing Solutions for Cardiology Services Get ready to learn all the ins and outs of coding and billing for Cardiology services! Now more than ever, it is critical to be aware of proper coding techniques and the “coding rules” so you can legitimately receive the maximum reimbursement for the services performed. Based on comments from cardiology practices, key issues of concern impacting cardiology practices are consultations, mid level providers and supervision rules. These, as well as other urgent issues, will be addressed. This high energy and information-packed class is for billing and coding staff, managers, and physicians in cardiology practice, or those who provide services for these physicians. AGENDA 10:00 - 10:30 am Identify urgent issues to be discussed Discuss the impact of current trends in cardiology, such as decreased reimbursement for monitoring of vascular procedures and consultation coding, ICD-9 and CPT code changes, and EHR, e-prescribing and audit concerns 10:30 - 11:00 am Review consultations - are they still active for CMS, how to handle non-Medicare consultations, new patient and subsequent care issues, who can make the code determination and who can document 11:00 am – 12:00 pm Explain how to implement PQRI measures in your practice and discuss the coding and documentation required for mid- level providers 12:00 – 12:45 pm Lunch 12:45 – 2:00 pm Update and review of coding, billing and supervision rules for diagnostic testing of EKG, Echo, stress/stress echo, Cardiodynamics/Bio Z, Cardionet and similar product issues, location issues, TEE, high end testing via the Internet and by phone, cardiac echo doppler documentation requirements and new drugs and biologicals 2:00 – 3:00 pm Continue update and review of coding and billing for key services such as heart catheterization, cardiac perfusion imaging and nuclear stress testing, multiple interventions per day, electrophysiology testing, plus intervention issues with CMS changes in new coverage decisions 3:00 – 3:30 pm Final Q&A covering highlights and key issues discussed during the meeting, denials, payer issues and open discussion to ensure all urgent issues and your specific questions are answered
